Just returned from an unforgettable time on our Highlights of the Southern Spring voyage! ⛴️ We crossed the Drake Passage, reached the stunning South Shetland Islands, and explored the Antarctic Peninsula’s ice cliffs, glaciers, and incredible wildlife 🐧 The absolute highlight was an ice landing in Charlotte Bay, where guests stepped directly from the ship onto the ice - an experience like no other! ❄️ From cruising alongside giant icebergs to spotting penguins returning to nest, every moment captured the magic of Antarctic spring. On our last voyage in Greenland, we had the joy of meeting these adorable Greenlandic sled dog puppies onboard our vessel! 🐾   The Greenlandic Sled Dog, or Qimmeq, is vital to Greenlandic culture. For centuries, they’ve been essential for transport and hunting, thriving in harsh Arctic conditions. Only found north of the Arctic Circle and in East Greenland, these hardy dogs are bred to preserve their unique genetics. Though snowmobiles have replaced them for some, many hunters still rely on these loyal companions 🐕   The dogs rest during summer, and by law must be chained; as working pack animals rather than pets, they can present a danger to humans other than their owner. We therefore advise visitors to only touch puppies with explicit invitation from their handler, as we offer in the Arctic Circle city of Sisimiut. Have you ever wondered what it's like to be an Expedition Leader on a voyage to the Polar Regions? ❄️   The role of an Expedition Leader is all about ensuring our guests have the best possible experience while onboard with us, while managing the day-to-day operations on and off the ship ⛴️   From safety briefings to kayaking and Zodiac excursions, the Expedition Leader is in charge of the Expedition Team and ensures every team member knows their role and stays well-prepared. They liaise with the Captain and Bridge Team, collaborate with the Hotel Department onboard, assign tasks to the Expedition Team, and generally¨ensure that guests get the best from their destination - a busy task for sure! 🌎   Our Expedition Leaders are experienced professionals, with abundant experience in the Arctic and Antarctic. While always prioritising safety, the Expedition Leader ensures every day is an unforgettable experience for our guests ✨
