  • 🌧️ Röda Oasens toilet water is coming from heaven 🌧️ Our SiCBLOX membranes are used in Malmö, Sweden, to treat collected rainwater for direct use in toilet flushing. This solution conserves water while significantly reducing energy consumption associated with water transportation and pumping. Pumping water from centralized treatment plants is one of the largest consumers of energy!  By using Cembrane ’s SiCBLOX technology, we enable a chemical-free treatment process that showcases our commitment to sustainable and efficient water management.

Silicon Carbide Ceramic Membranes: An opportunity for the water industry to expand and improve water and wastewater treatment at low additional cost and carbon footprint. Water companies are facing ever tightening standards, including the treatment of micro-pollutants to almost non-detectable levels in drinking water, very low levels of phosphorus discharge from wastewater treatment, and the requirement to drastically reducing storm overflow spills. The proprietary silicon carbide (SiC) membrane and module is an innovative technology that provides some unique advantages for potable water, wastewater and CSO applications, and helps water companies increase their treatment capacities, reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint; major drivers for the industry when selecting key process technologies. Silicon carbide ceramic membranes are submerged ultrafiltration flat-plate membranes with a pore size of 0.1 microns. They act as a physical barrier that blocks solids and pathogens, allowing clean water to pass through. One of the key advantages of SiC membranes, compared to any other organic or alumina ceramic membrane, is their natural hydrophilicity, which attracts water while repelling organic foulants. This reduces membrane fouling, improving filtration efficiency and reducing cleaning requirement. Cembrane SiC membranes have been installed in over 250 facilities worldwide. The innovative technology provides several advantages against more commonly used organic and inorganic membranes including market-leading flux rates, longevity, robustness and ease of operation. The membranes are manufactured in Denmark and the USA, and have been utilised in more than 70 countries to providing safe drinking water and wastewater treatment. In the UK, Cembrane SiC membranes are available via Enpure Ltd. Cembrane and Enpure are both part of SKion Water. We are pleased to announce that Ovivo Water has received an order where our SiC flat sheet membrane is the key element. This is a significant milestone for us as this will be the largest ceramic membrane plant in North America and the largest SiC plant in the world in terms of membrane area. This globally recognized benchmark is critical to our future growth and reputation. The customer in North America was faced with high #PFAS levels in their source water (river) and planned to upgrade the water treatment plant, which consists of ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and granular activated carbon stages. The capacity of the new plant will be 26 MGD in 6 trains, based on current demand. The project includes the production of more than 3000 SiCBLOX modules in NSF419 quality. Let's continue to work smart and ensure that we deliver the best quality products to our customers. #SiC #Drinkingwater #NSF419

𝗣𝗲𝗲𝗿-𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗖 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗙𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆! A recently published peer-reviewed study by researchers in Hamburg highlights the long-term benefits of using Cembrane #SiliconCarbidemembrane compared to PVDF #UF membranes. This comprehensive study reveals several key findings: 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Both membranes can treat backwash water from sand filters directly without pre-sedimentation and chemical dosage. 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲: The permeate water was within the drinking water limits. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: The membranes managed to deal with solids peak up to 2700 NTU & 4200 mg/l TSS in the inlet. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲: SiC membranes had a higher recovery rate of 99.2% compared to 97.6% for Polymeric membranes. 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁: PVDF membrane needed 2.2x more footprint. 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The total equipment installation cost for SiC is similar to Polymeric. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: Despite having 2.5x higher flux rate, SiC membranes needed less cleaning chemicals. 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: SiC membranes have a significantly lower total cost of ownership due to lower chemical and disposal costs. The use of Cembrane SiC membranes is rapidly growing in this application globally, thanks to their ability to handle high solids. This study underlines the effectiveness of SiC in water treatment applications.
