As a small company, we know we can’t save all the food waste— it takes ALL of us to make a real impact. Wasted was born to show what’s possible when we collectively rally behind a mission. We’re here to spark different ways to tackle waste across industries. Sept 19th was the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, a reminder that the entire food chain—from businesses to consumers—needs to unite and rethink how we handle food. And it starts right at the dinner table. On 08.10.24, we’ll be dropping a new way for our community to save food waste and make an impact all around the world. Dear Trash Lovers, We used to leave work with garbage bags full of food. We would fill dumpsters with bread, pastries and vegetables. Coming from the hospitality industry, we’d waste food while people sat hungry on the streets in our community. The food industry is collectively failing. One-third of all food produced is Wasted, while one billion people go hungry. We asked ourselves - how do we get bread (the world’s most wasted food) to people in need? Our answer lay in one of the most beloved staples. We bought a small yellow pasta machine and began cooking for our friends, slowly developing the world’s first pasta made from bread waste! The thing we’re most proud of? For every kilogram of pasta you buy, we donate one portion to a local organization feeding food to insecure community members.
