The Next Generation in Sewing Automation

Om os

Mikkelsen Innovation aims to automate one of the largest industries – The Textile Industry. Globally it employs 300 million people with 45 million sewing mostly with manually sewing machines – a 100 year old technology. This industry is in dire need of easy to implement automation solutions, having not yet benefited from the full automation trends seen in most other industries. Our international team of engineers and experts, has invented a simple & unique solution based on our Moving Cavity Technology (MCT™) which is intelligently integrated with proven CNC machine technology. The integration creates the patented, FASTSEWN™ system – enabling digitally controlled, integrated, sewing, and cutting of textiles. This innovation radically reduces the manual labor required to allow the textile industry to begin to move production back to the West, closer to the customers. Using it to enable shorter run local textile production will reduce overproduction and transport times, reducing costs. Our initial focus is technical textiles for automotive, medical, filtration, ventilation, military, and graphics with automation of garment production coming later.

  • Meet Steen Mikkelsen, the visionary founder of FASTSEWN. With decades of industry experience, Steen understands the challenges businesses face when sewing capacity is limited. As Steen puts it: "Turning down big orders due to a shortage of sewing capacity is a missed opportunity." That’s where FASTSEWN steps in. By automating sewing and cutting processes, FASTSEWN helps businesses overcome staff and capacity shortages, enabling you to take on more orders and scale without the constraints of manual operations. Our team, a blend of seasoned experts and fresh talent from Steen's previous ventures, has developed technology that also supports sustainability by improving efficiency and bringing production closer to customers, thereby reducing CO₂ emissions, saving time, and cutting transportation costs. • 𝐍𝐎𝐖, 𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐒𝐄𝐖𝐍 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐄𝐆 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬! Did you know that the sewing machine was one of the first major inventions of the Industrial Revolution over 150 years ago? While it has been improved over time, it hasn’t seen nearly as much innovation as technologies like cars, planes, or computers. Today, sewing is still mainly handled by skilled sewers without much in the way of automation. That is now changing with the development of 𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐒𝐄𝐖𝐍. 𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐒𝐄𝐖𝐍 fully automates and integrates cutting, sewing, and now even Keder sewing for SEG graphics, thanks to its patented 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 (𝐌𝐂𝐓). The first industry to benefit from this groundbreaking innovation is the graphics industry - an industry close to Steen Mikkelsen’s heart and deeply rooted in his family’s history. For three generations, his family has been in printing, evolving from lead type to offset printing and now to digital printing - enabling the creation of stunning textile graphics. In addition to transforming textile graphics, 𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐒𝐄𝐖𝐍 can also produce components for applications such as furniture production, automotive airbags, and car seats, among many others. This level of automation doesn’t just make existing processes more efficient - it unlocks entirely new possibilities. By replacing skilled manual labor with precise, computer-controlled processes, it opens the door for creativity to thrive and enables the production of designs and products that were previously impractical. With 𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐒𝐄𝐖𝐍, the future of textile has never looked brighter.

I knew he'd be back, and boy is this one a banger! Engineering maestro, Steen Mikkelsen, is about to change the way to cut and sew fabric. It is called Fastsewn, and VP of Business Development, Steve Aranoff will be attending our upcoming Mimaki Digital Textile Microfactory. Steve joins me from Hawaii for a full explanation of the new product, what it does, and how it works. Yes, I am impressed. This is an automation process that could change the industry. Listen for yourself. #MimakiUSA #Fastsewn #MimakiMicrofactory Mimaki USA, Inc. • We were 𝑯𝑬𝑹𝑬! Two days ago, we attended Aarhus Townhall, hosted by Startup Aarhus, with the theme HERE. The theme truly resonates with us, as being present and engaged in the moment is key to how we build relationships and drive innovation. It’s about embracing where we are now and growing from here. Townhall was also an amazing opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new faces in the startup community. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
