Exploring self-checkout with a new perspective – meet Esra Türlü ✨ When Esra reached out to Fiftytwo, she brought a question many retailers face: how can self-checkout systems reduce staff intervention while improving efficiency and the experience for customers? For her final project as part of her Bachelor of Engineering in Process & Innovation at DTU - Technical University of Denmark, Esra has been out in the field visiting stores like Føtex, Bilka, Netto, and MENY. She’s spoken with store managers, employees, and customers, and engaged with project leaders to understand the decisions behind designing self-checkout areas. Through these conversations and observations, she’s uncovering ways to make self-checkout more user-friendly while addressing operational challenges.
