Last Friday, we participated in Science Week at the Parque Científico Tecnológico, where we had the opportunity to showcase our innovative technology to the public. We highlighted why Floating Power Plant solutions are essential for remote islands like the Canary Islands and discussed the benefits of our P-DEMO project. Oscar spoke about the importance of conducting basin tests to validate numerical models and de-risk our technology before moving to commercial-scale demonstrations in real sea environments. En indtil videre hemmeligholdt europæisk energiaktør har meldt sig som ledende investor i den danske projektudvikler og energivirksomhed Floating Power Plant og har underskrevet en hensigtserklæring om at tilføre en væsentlig del af et tocifret milllionbeløb i euro og agere som ledende investor i en kommende rejsning af livsvigtig egenkapital i den lollandske virksomhed. 260 private aktionærer har gennem en årrække troet på virksomhedens teknologi med at integrere en kombination af havvind, produktion af brint og i nogle tilfælde bølgekraft. Rie will explore the innovative potential of leveraging our unique platform for offshore ammonia production. At FPP, we have dedicated years to developing offshore green hydrogen production, viewing hydrogen as an energy carrier and a vital feedstock for various industrial applications. Taking this a step further, the concept of producing ammonia—a higher-value commodity—directly offshore presents a compelling opportunity. This approach allows energy-intensive processes to occur right at the source of abundant offshore wind resources, eliminating transmission costs and minimizing energy losses. With my EMship+ journey officially coming to an end, I am pleased to share that I successfully completed my master thesis journey with Hoppe Marine GmbH on the topic " Effect of roll damping tanks on the motion of offshore wind turbine platforms". The thesis was focused on three modules; starting with the design of Roll Damping Tank ( RDT) given the GA of SEAWORTHY platform from Floating Power Plant. A parameterized 3D model of designed tank was developed and CFD studies were performed to calculate moment-phase diagrams of the damping moment provided by tanks. The CFD models, developed in OpenFoam, were validated through experimental benchmark studies. To check the damping effect provided by tank, sea-keeping analysis of the platform was performed with and without the tank. My thesis involved the use of Open source tools OpenFoam for CFD, Gmsh for parameterization, Meshmagick and NEMOH for sea-keeping. My journey was successful under the careful supervision of my supervisors Aaqib Khan , Christian Voosen, Florian Sprenger and co-supervisor Junheng Zhang, who I cannot thank enough for their constant assistance. It would be selfish not to mention my friends and classmates in URO and ECN specifically Smit Dhanani who helped me with the use of open-source sea keeping tool NEMOH developed by ECN. Special thanks to professor Rigo for giving me the opportunity to learn in EMship and hone my skills. Looking ahead now!

Recent studies by the Clean energy for EU islands Secretariat have highlighted the technical and regulatory obstacles islands face as they shift towards renewable energy. From grid instabilities ⚡ and high curtailment rates 🌱 to regulatory hurdles and the need for long-duration energy storage 🔋, the path forward requires innovative, scalable solutions. At Floating Power Plant, we address these challenges head-on with our cutting-edge hybrid power systems that integrate floating wind and hydrogen storage solutions 💨🔋. By harnessing the strengths of both technologies, we can provide consistent, clean energy to island communities—regardless of whether the wind is blowing 🌬️ or the sun is shining ☀️. This approach not only boosts grid stability but also reduces reliance on fossil fuels 🛢️ and minimizes the need for costly infrastructure investments 🏗️. Key findings from the study, which included input from 10 EU islands 🏝️, emphasize the importance of hybrid systems that can combine renewable generation with energy storage to meet fluctuating energy demands, particularly during peak tourist seasons 🚤🏖️. With hybrid systems, islands can optimize their use of local renewable resources, ensuring energy security and resilience year-round 🔄. By integrating long-duration energy storage 🔋 and focusing on smart grid initiatives, we can overcome many of the grid constraints and ensure that island energy systems are ready to meet future needs. These technologies can be game changers, especially for isolated electricity grids, by reducing curtailment, enhancing grid stability, and providing a reliable energy supply 💡. As we push toward a 100% renewable energy future 🌍, Floating Power Plant remains committed to supporting island communities in their energy transition.
