Another eventful year has come to a close. In 2024, we invested in many new machines, automation, measurement, and software solutions. Admittedly, we started a few more projects than we perhaps should have. In 2025, our focus will be on optimizing these solutions to maximize their benefits for our customers. We are confident in the significant potential for productivity gains—it’s a fantastic feeling to have. The nightmare scenario would be waking up one day and seeing no opportunities for development. Here on LinkedIn, we've now reached over 2,600 followers, and we're grateful that so many are interested in our niche production. Most of our followers are competitors or potential suppliers, and we often question whether it makes sense to use LinkedIn for marketing. We're still not sure about the impact; for many years, it brought no results. But in 2024, we acquired our first new customer through LinkedIn, which is quite amazing. We spend a lot of time on the new ESG requirements, and it's sometimes challenging that we can't just focus on producing gears. The intention is good, and we believe in the long-term impact, so we continue our ESG efforts. In 2024, our quality management has become even more integrated into our daily routines, and a new, informal meeting structure where only the colleagues involved in a specific case participate has proven both effective and motivating for everyone. The outcome appears to be fewer internal errors and the ongoing initiation of various small and large improvement projects. We’re working on a variety of new, complex thin-walled parts loaded with intricate details and holes in every direction. To be frank, quite many crazy parts. It’s never dull in our industry! 😅 Take, for example, this piece designed for a defense application: it measures over Ø400 in diameter. In Metal Supply's latest industry analysis of Danish gear manufacturers, a predominantly negative picture is painted for the industry as a whole due to international challenges. This is not a reflection we recognize at Hero Gears. We are experiencing a very positive development, continuously gaining new customers across multiple industries. At the same time, we have invested heavily in new equipment, and our ongoing work with LEAN principles continues to improve our profitability. This was, however, a necessary step following the move to our new factory. That being said, we have still not reached a satisfactory result, as we are currently facing significant short-term costs associated with all these changes. Recently, several companies have realized how skilled we are at manufacturing thin-walled and complex gear rings with high precision, often nitrided or nitrocarburized gear rings with many intricate details. This has resulted in several new customers and increased investments in machines suitable for such gears. Here is an example of one of the geometrically simpler, yet thin-walled types.
