Green waves ahead 👌 VINA, a multipurpose DP1 Installation vessel, operated by the Danish JD-Contractor A/S, is currently being pampered and fitted with a #bwts at BLRT REPAIR YARDS in Tallinn for eco-friendlier voyages! ❗ Whether it is cable-pipe installation works, survey- and #ROV or #offshorewindfarm operations, she can also be fitted for offshore diving operations, including wet bell and treatment and #decompression chamber and mixed gas diving - VINA's adaptability is its hallmark ❗ VINA stands ready to meet the diverse needs of the #maritime sector worldwide. Fleet expansion with two "new" vessels JD-Contractor’s fleet expands with two “new” DP2 Offshore Installation Vessels to service the Green Transition Offshore. Recognizing that the energy and resources going into the manufacturing of vessels constitutes an extensive part of a vessel’s lifetime carbon/resource footprint, it was decided not to just order two new builds. As a part of the company’s Sustainability Strategy, it was decided to invest in two ships which had become redundant in the oil and gas sector. The ships are currently being up-cycled to continue operations in both the Renewables, the Offshore and the Subsea Construction sector. The Seismic vessel Viking Vanquish was acquired in April 2023 and renamed C-Installer. The ship is currently going through the final phase of a major refurbishment where all seismic equipment and appliances have been removed, and a large working deck has been formed, which can be mobilized with equipment for laying and burial of subsea cables as well as setups for other types of subsea construction. C-Installer is expected to be in operation from April 2024. In September 2023 the AHTS Maersk Detector was acquired from Maersk Supply Service. The ship has been converted to the Danish flag and is in the final stage of being updated and reactivated. Going forward it will be named Detector, and it is scheduled to commence on its first project in the Offshore Renewables sector in March 2024. However, it is also expected to, to some degree, to continue servicing the Oil and Gas sector on the spot market. JD-Contractor establishes new facilities in the port of Thyborøn   When JD-Contractor started operating in 1972, the fleet consisted of just one wooden pilot boat. Since then, a lot has changed, but one thing has stayed the same. Throughout all these years the port of Thyborøn has been one of the most frequented ports of JD-Contractor’s growing fleet.   Despite having regular activity in the port, JD-Contractor has never had a base of operations in Thyborøn. This is now changing with the establishment of a new warehouse, office and workshop conveniently located on the harbourside in the port of Thyborøn.   In the future JD-Contractor’s Thyborøn facilities will be the centre of the company’s:  - ROV department incl. workshops and other subsea tooling  - PLGR & Route Clearance operations  - Projects in the North Sea incl. mobilization and service   The port of Thyborøn is generally an increasingly ideal location to have a base of operations. The port already offers a great deal of opportunities, when it comes to supplying, bunkering and especially qualified maritime services at the local shipyards.
