Kangamiut Seafood A/S genopslog dette
One of the joys of working in the seafood industry is that you get to meet the most extraordinary people. Those men and women that work the seas, rivers, lakes and onshore farming systems to produce the seafood that we all take for granted, are crucial to our food supply. Anyone who has fished or farmed fish for a living knows well the long exhausting physical hours, the tenuous relationship with mother nature, the investment risks, the ebb and flow of supply and demand, the highs and lows of costs and margins. The job requires grit, more grit and bucket loads of optimism. Last week Thomas Jordansen and I met a team of those extraordinary people – the Oceanpick Pvt Ltd team. Led by Irfan Thassim, the founder and visionary for what is Sri Lankas first ocean aquaculture venture, the Oceanpick team are not only high calibre and impressive in their sector knowledge and experience, but are passionate, committed and unwaveringly optimistic. It was a privilege to meet the brilliant individuals behind the company and to see first hand the growing success story that is Oceanpick – a story that has had its share of lows and highs and that is still being written by its people, and one where Kangamiut is striving to help write the European chapter... Thank you to the entire team at Oceanpick for hosting Thomas and I so warmly and with such unmatched hospitality. And especially to Dakshini Bulathsinhala and Niruth Madawala for planning and accompanying us on the perfect itinerary that took us on a Sri Lankan barramundi journey from egg to plate. And thank you to Irfan Thassim for your delightful company, trust, continuous support and for ‘doing it with joy’! #oceanpick #barramundi #srilanka #responsibleaquaculture #asc #bap #ceylonfreshseafood #latescalcarifer
