Last week I had the chance to visit our first school project in Germany: Schule Am Breiten Luch in Berlin. It was fantastic to see how the design concepts we envisioned are coming to life as the building enters its final phase. Designed by KHR Architecture together with Renner Architekten GmbH for HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH, this school demonstrates how thoughtful architecture can support both learning and community engagement. Some highlights from the visit, where it was clear that our design works as intended: 🌟 Proportions that blend seamlessly: The segmented building volumes integrate beautifully with the surrounding neighbourhood, creating a welcoming and harmonious scale even though we had to fit a large school on a small plot. 🌿 Bright, inviting classrooms: The large wooden-framed windows deliver on our goal to create light-filled, friendly spaces that promote a positive learning atmosphere. Pleased that we succeeded in challenging the German standards here! 🏋️♂️ Well-proportioned sports halls: The stacked gymnasiums combine functionality with elegance, featuring concrete columns, wooden cladding, and sleek glass façades that give the spaces a dynamic and open feel. 🌳 An innovative elevated courtyard: This sheltered play area successfully adds a human scale to the adjacent classrooms while drawing daylight into the arrival hall below—exactly as we had envisioned. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how these concepts, developed during the last years, work so effectively in practice. 🎅🎄✨ Oh yes, it's already December! At KHR Architecture, we prepared for a festive December with our annual Christmas crafting/juleklip Thursday after work where our team, along with partners and kids, came together to create decorations for our big Christmas tree. The afternoon was filled with kids' laughter, ambitious creations (clearly showcasing that we're a design studio 😉), and the delicious scents of classic Danish Christmas sweets and warm gløgg 🍪🍷. We wish everyone a hyggelig December - also at work!  🌱 Første spadestik er taget til Kregmehusene – en bebyggelse, der vil skabe rammerne for et stærkt fællesskab i maturskønne omgivelser. KHR Architecture har haft fornøjelsen af at stå for arkitekturen for det 16.500 kvm store projekt, der både omfatter private og almene boliger med en ambition om at bygge bro mellem forskellige beboergrupper og bidrage til livet i den lille by Kregme. Der er fokus på både den miljømæssige og sociale bæredygtighed ud fra DGNB-certificeringens principper, og ambitionen er at opnå en Svanemærkning af projektet.  Transitioning from static spreadsheets to a dynamic platform, KHR Architecture now accesses real-time data on over 20,000 EU-focused materials, enabling smarter, faster material selection while ensuring compliance with stricter climate requirements. This shift saves time and better supports early-stage decision-making with reliable environmental metrics.
 A key aspect of this collaboration is integrating revalu 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵 API into KHR Architecture’s life cycle assessment (LCA) tool, providing real-time insights into CO2 emissions, water use, recycling potential, and more.
