Carbon Removal is critical for achieving net-zero goals, but its success depends on integrity and trust. At Klimate, we are committed to upholding stringent due diligence by assessing 301+ data points, ensuring every project is thoroughly evaluated for both risks and benefits. To refine and elevate our due diligence framework, our team consistently analyses the publicly available standards and information of leading organisations. For example, we recently benchmarked our due diligence against the top CDR buyer, Microsoft. By comparing our 2024 framework with their latest “Criteria for High-Quality Carbon Dioxide Removal”, we can both test our assumptions and ensure that our methodology is among the most robust in the industry. New partnership alert: 🔔 Klimaskovfonden 🔔 We’re excited to announce the start of our collaboration with the Danish Climate Forest Fund’s (Den Danske Klimaskovfond – KSF) Bækgaard Climate Forest. This project is one of several new forests and brings the opportunity to support local projects that remove carbon, increase biodiversity and native species, and contribute overall to the Danish climate effort. 🌳 Some key facts: 🌳 - The project Bækgaard Climate Forest is an afforestation project, meaning it’s new trees planted in areas that were not previously forest. - The associated credits are an example of contribution credits, or those that can be used to mitigate climate impacts outside a company or organisation’s own value chain. 🔍 CDR vs. CCS: What’s the Difference? 🔍 Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and carbon capture and storage (CCS) are two distinct but complementary approaches to tackling carbon emissions. 💡 In this session of Carbon Removal 101, we’re breaking down two key terms that often come up in climate discussions—CDR and CCS. 🌱We can consider CCS as a range of technologies to prevent emissions from entering the atmosphere (from industry or energy production) and CDR a solution to remove what has already been emitted. So, CDR and CCS have different, but related, goals. 🌍 While they serve different purposes, both play a crucial role in addressing climate change. 🤝 Swipe through the deck below to explore their key differences, and stay tuned as we unpack more essential carbon removal terms.
