Properly the 5 best startups in the universe! I have received millions of requests from startups to be on the Højer List (aka Magic Rectangle). Here are the 5 startups I believe will all become unicorns in 2025: 1. ReefCircular ApS - “We're turning shell waste into sea life with 3D-printed reefs!” Showing up (early) is 80% of success, and this company was the first to apply. Not only that, but they are also doing something with sea reefs and have "circular" in their name. No governmental agency or middle-aged business angel will EVER deny them money. It's a well-deserved spot on the magic list. 2. Complir - "Lets retailers sell any physical product in any market". I don’t like this startup at all. They declined my offer to invest in the company a few weeks ago. How dare they say no to me! They seem very arrogant! But the FOMO is real, and by putting them on the list, I hope they will reconsider. Call me! 3. Kripthonite Therapeutics - “Solves a decades-old challenge in cancer treatment.” Let’s be honest: Most investors in biotech (including myself) don’t have the scientific skills to evaluate a startup’s claims. So, how do we perform due diligence? Simple - we invest in the biotech startups with the coolest names! Here, you have a startup referencing Superman in its name. I foresee a 300 MUSD Series A round coming up soon! 4. Nume (from Scaleup Finance) - "The one and only kickass AI CFO." Seriously, “CFO” sounds so dull, so I had already rejected them. But here is a team that understood the assignment and knows that I am the next Gartner of startup research. I really appreciate the 6 bottles of Dom Pérignon they sent. Of course, they need to be on the list – and, of course, also in the Magic Rectangle. 5. Remote.io - “Rocket fuel loaded, AI product incoming, unstoppable momentum! 🚀” Have you ever seen so many buzzwords so close together? Neither have I - and they even put in a rocket emoji! This team is on fire! Honorable Mention: Sikr - "Helps SMEs get started in cybersecurity with easy onboarding." These guys don’t listen to instructions. I asked for a maximum of 10 words - they came back with a 1,500-word description. So, either they are very smart or very dumb. So, check them out- but at your own risk! -------------- How to get one of the 5 remaining spots? Just write – in less than 10 words – why your startup is better than the rest! -------------  

🐚 85% of oyster reefs have disappeared globally from our oceans, and due to overfishing and invasive parasites, the European flat oyster could really use a kelping hand over here! 🐚 Oyster reefs are not only a tasty source of shellfish - they also serve as important fish nurseries, filter pollutants from water, and serve as a natural, regenerative coastal defence against strong waves. We designed the O-Reef biomimetic series to aid oyster restoration, and were awarded by the prestigious Marine Fund Scotland to support our next project: deploying 15 oyster reefs in our circular, shell-based material at Loch Craignish in the Scottish Highlands together with The Kelp Conservation Initiative, Seawilding, the Scottish Association For Marine Science, and Anemo Robotics. We have also recieved generous match funding from The Fishmonger's Company and Marshall Wace for this project. In addition to studying the oyster growth on our reefs, we'll be testing out how kelp spores (baby kelp) like our reefs, and investigating the potential for kelp restoration. #oyster #restoration #kelp #native #reef #3dprint #additivemanufacturing

Danish is my fourth language and sometimes (especially under pressure) I make mistakes with grammar, false cognates and pronunciation. However I'm still really proud of the presentation I made for Danske Landskabsarkitekter Høstdebat where I shared ReefCircular ApS journey- and my personal journey from working with marine biomaterials for architecture and art at Studio Kathryn Larsen ApS to working with nature restoration projects together with Shannon Hanson and Camila Martínez Alarcón. Our crab companion has made it to the front page of Danish media again today, along with the happy news that our reefs in Hundested have attracted over 2.3 million fish visits since June 2024 and 100% sessile coverage after 1 month of deployment. "It's exceeded all of our expectations," shares founder Kathryn Larsen. We'd like to thank Anemo Robotics and DHI for their collaboration on our pilot, helping us collect hard data on our reefs. We will continue to collect data through 2025 to study how our artifical reefs attract sessile organisms and fish traffic around the Hundested harbor. #artificialreef #biobased #fish #additivemanufacturing

We didn't win at the Danish Design Award last night - but we are still incredibly happy to have been selected finalists! We are a team of three women attempting to address a complex polycrisis : overreliance on highly extractive virgin materials, ocean acidification, and biodiversity loss with our data-driven design solutions at ReefCircular ApS. In 2022, we started R&D by smashing shells with a sledgehammer on the concrete floor of a clothing boutique's kitchenette. Today we work out of CPHLabs and with collaborators like DHI and Anemo Robotics. Already, we are seeing results in our first project in Hundested. We have had over 2.3 million fish visits at our reefs since July 2024. We have two test sites and one control. We are still processing the data, but preliminary results show that our reefs attract the species we designed them for. That's all something worthy of celebration, and with the Danish Design Award finalist selection, we're also really pleased to have confirmation that a jury of humans also finds our designs aesthetically pleasing- not just fish 😀 For the ocassion at Danish Architecture Center (Dansk Arkitektur Center) , I wore my self-designed ocean-inspired uniform made with Carina Grønning. #biodiversity #biodesign #reef #architecture #danishdesign
