RePuP in action at Borgerskolen: RePuP is live at Borgerskolen in Høje Taastrup after the installation of sensors and connection to energy gauging services. Data is rolling in, and we will use it to inform and engage the users in shaping their indoor environment and increasing the school’s energy performance. Smart thermostats were installed on the school’s radiators, replacing the older manual thermostats, which commonly suffered from diverging settings. The new thermostats will support accurate and room-wise control of the indoor temperature. Monitors continuously log and transmit data on indoor and outdoor climate to server processing and storing. At the same time, CLIMIFY ’s FEEDME app takes care of the human-in-the-loop control of the indoor environment. Building managers and teachers can now visualize the indoor environment and identify potential issues with the state or operation of the buildings and their systems. The first results indicate lower heating and electricity costs and the elimination of penalties for high district heating return temperature. Last week the RePUP consortium (DTU Sustain, DTU Compute, CLIMIFY, Danfoss, VELUX, Høje-Taastrup Kommune, Panasonic, Center Denmark, ENFOR A/S) spent the day together to present and discuss progress on all the activities in the project. And there was a lot to talk about….. Monitoring and control are ongoing in a school and living labs at DTU, and five homes and a daycare centre will follow very soon with installation of heat pumps and innovative ventilation systems. Algorithms for fault detection and model predictive control have been selected, and a framework to include building users in the control of the indoor environment finalized. A dynamic comfort model that integrates information occupant perceptions with environmental data, energy use, electricity price, and weather forecast is in the pipeline. The coming year will be super exciting when results will continue to roll in. Stay tuned for updates on project findings. Recently, we marked a significant milestone as we celebrated one year since the start of the RePuP project, with notable progress to report. We've successfully installed sensors to monitor indoor environmental quality parameters in two schools, an office building, and five residential homes. Additionally, a thermal comfort model for statistical analysis of the collected data has been developed and is currently undergoing testing. We've also selected the hardware for collecting feedback from building occupants. During our 1-year meeting, we conducted three insightful workshops on: Comfort Guarantee led by Jan Kloppenborg Moller, where we explored mathematical approaches to analyze collected data, identify clustering opportunities among different users, and forecast preferences. Feedback to Users (leaders Peder Bacher & Angela Simone), focusing on developing dynamic comfort models that adapt to environmental variables and personal parameters. Debugging of Buildings’ HVAC led by Rune Korsholm Andersen and Bruno Adam, where we examined effective fault detection methods. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts and driving further progress in the RePuP project! #HumanCentric #Indoor Environment #EnergyEfficiency #IoT #ModelPredictiveControl #HumanWell-being #DesignSolutions #ClimateAdaptation #SmartBuildings #SustainableBuidlingPerformance Davide Calì, Marin H., Georgi Pavlov, Jørn Toftum, Mariya Bivolarova, Matthias Van Hove, Jens-Emil Syrach Brehmer, Ricardo Forgiarini Rupp Shahab Tohidi, Per Banke

Do you have an interest in the dynamic relationship between people and buildings? Wondering about the impact of IoT technology and the growing access to real-time data on our perception of indoor environments? Maybe you want to learn more about how these data can be leveraged to enhance the performance of systems and interfaces within buildings, improving human comfort and well-being, energy efficiency, and overall quality of life. The RePUP project, #repupdk, focuses on various tasks to improve building systems' performance and how people interact with them: Living Labs: Setting up test locations, including a school, a modern building at DTU, and five homes. These homes will get upgrades like intelligent sensors, better heating systems, and improved ventilation. Data Sharing Platform: Creating a system to share information about building performance in real-time while also considering how people feel in those spaces. Debugging Buildings: Fixing building problems, both technical issues and behaviours that waste energy. Occupants will get tips through an app to help them use energy more efficiently. Comfort Guarantee: Understanding that everyone has different preferences for indoor comfort, the project will tailor solutions to individual needs using sensors and feedback from occupants. Performance Upgrade: Using advanced technology to make buildings more efficient, considering weather, energy prices, and what occupants want. Products: Developing new technologies and tools for monitoring and controlling buildings. Dissemination: Ensure the project's findings reach people who design, build, and use buildings. Join us and stay connected for updates as we strive to incorporate this information into the design and functioning of buildings. 🔍 💡 🌁 #HumanCentric #IndoorEnvironment #EnergyEfficiency #IoT #ModelPredictiveControl #HumanWellbeing #DesignSolutions #ClimateAdaptation #SmartBuildings #SustainableBuildingPerformance
