1 million items shipped! We believe that every single piece of clothing matters. That’s why we make each item to order, from high-quality materials that last. But to really make an impact, we also know that scale matters. And that’s what we’re celebrating today: made-to-order has grown into a movement. Thank you for being a part of it!

“Son of a Tailor’s made-to-order model makes it possible to produce a garment uniquely for the person who has ordered it while reducing waste massively. With our own production house in Portugal, we have full control over the process, ensuring great quality and working conditions while minimizing the environmental footprint.” Our Senior Communications Manager Kay Litzinger spoke to AL DENTE about the appeal of Scandinavian brands and what the international luxury industry can learn from them. Yes, it should be just another Friday... Our rules are: - we don’t put any product on discount - but we also don’t close any stores and make a huge drama about that. Here’s why: Discounts converging on a single day puts unnatural strain on supply chains and inventories. Maximizing them. Making them more wasteful. Yes, you can argue you’d have bought product X anyway. But the fact that we’re collectively pushed to max out credit cards and inventories simultaneously increases the negative impact. From supply chain disruptions to natural disasters, the last years have shown that volatility comes with a hefty price tag, literally and figuratively speaking. At Son of a Tailor, we believe that customers should spend mindfully 365 days a year and that brands should support them to do so. That’s why we only produce what customers have ordered and the only discounts we offer on Black Friday are the same bundle discounts we offer all year round.

How to pave the way for more sustainability in fashion? Yesterday, our CEO and Co-Founder Jess Fleischer discussed this very question with other experts including Copenhagen Fashion Week's Cecilie Thorsmark at Denmark’s most important industry event Topmøde. At Son of a Tailor, we strive to provide a blueprint for what a more sustainable fashion industry can look like – by producing high-quality clothing for you on demand. Seeing our model recognized in this forum feels like a huge achievement, and this wouldn’t be possible without you. To the much-needed change ahead!

Knitted in 3D: We leverage 3D-knitting technology to make our knitwear in one whole piece. The result? No irritating seams and less than 1% production waste. For our Heavy Wool Sweater and Cardigan, we ply the yarn 4 times more than for our lighter Pullover styles, giving them their characteristic structure while maintaining flexibility.
