🔌 Looking back on our recent trial in Port of Aberdeen... In a recent post, we celebrated a significant milestone for Stillstrom by A.P. Moller - Maersk, where we successfully tested our Offshore eCharger system in a marine environment. Now, let’s take a closer look at what this trial was all about. While the system mimicked the charging procedure, this test focused exclusively on perfecting the connection process between the vessel and the cable - an essential step in the evolution of our offshore charging solution. We validated that the connection and disconnection cycles were efficient, safe, and repeatable in a controlled environment. This operation is based on industry standard practices and we saw the vessel crew quickly become comfortable with the system and process. ⚓ Why this matters: Smooth and reliable cable handling is critical for the long-term success of offshore charging. Testing this process in real-world conditions helps us optimize our system and prepare for full-scale offshore deployment, where charging capabilities will come into play. 🌊 A collaborative effort: We’re grateful for the exceptional teamwork with the DOF Skandi Lifter’s crew, Clarksons Port Services and the support from Port of Aberdeen, which ensured the trial’s success. These trials are a vital step toward turning our vision of decarbonising offshore wind farm operations into reality. 💡 Looking ahead: Each trial brings the industry closer to delivering a viable offshore charging ecosystem, and direct electrification is currently the most efficient way to achieve zero-emission operations. 🌊We are excited to share another major step toward decarbonising the maritime sector!   We have deployed the Stillstrom Offshore eCharger in a marine environment, following our successful yard trials. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Stillstrom by A.P. Moller - Maersk, as we advance our system and gear up for full offshore trials.   On a chilly day at South Harbour in Port of Aberdeen, our dedicated team completed three connection cycles between the quayside and the vessel, with each cycle becoming more efficient 🚢 The star of the show: Skandi Lifter (named Maersk Lifter at the time of filming) and its exceptional crew, led by Captain Carsten Andersen. With COP29 Azerbaijan taking place this week, the urgency for sustainable maritime practices is top of mind. 🌟Supporting Tomorrow’s Engineers Today: A day with Seumas!🌟 We recently had the pleasure of hosting a promising young student at our Stillstrom facility in Aberdeen. Seumas, who is preparing to apply for a Mechanical and Electrical Engineering course at University of Strathclyde, took the initiative to spend a day with us to gain hands-on insight into the engineering field. Throughout the day, he got an up-close look at the practical applications of mechanical and electrical engineering and shared some reflections that underscore his commitment to this field: 💡 What sparked your interest in engineering? "My motivation came from my interest in how systems and machines work. Engineering is a diverse field with many applications, but I’m most interested in equipment involving energy production." 🔧 What did you take away from the day? "I was able to see firsthand the challenges engineers face daily and how teams collaborate to overcome them. Seeing how two companies work together to push boundaries in offshore wind technology was especially impactful." 🌱 What inspired you the most? "Stillstrom’s innovation in recharging vessels directly from wind turbines really stood out. It’s a forward-thinking solution for the future of offshore engineering and sustainability."
