Co-Founder of Scaleup Finance & Bifrost Studios - On a mission to build 100 startups every year | Sharing daily content on the journey

I burned through millions in revenue before learning a pretty expensive lesson in entrepreneurship: BRANDING isn't just marketing fluff; it's the differentiator between survival and success. Years ago, Yngvi Karlson and I built what looked like a successful e-commerce business. We had decent numbers and were totaling around $5M in revenue, selling hundreds of "hot" products (think Temu-style trendy items) with constant sales. The problem? Every single sale required a fresh hit of ad spend. No brand loyalty, no organic growth, no flywheel effect, just an endless cycle of buying customers who'd never come back. Without a brand, every sale was a new conquest. With a strong brand? Your customers become your salesforce. This lesson changed my thinking on branding for good. Now, in every new venture, I am the guy obsessing over brand identity, sometimes to the frustration of others (GIVE ME MORE BRAND BUDGET! Nicolai Rasmussen 🤑). But here's what most founders get wrong: They think branding is just logos and color schemes. Real branding is about creating something people want to be part of. Look at Patagonia they don't sell jackets: they sell environmental activism. Oatly didn’t just sell oat milk; they made dairy alternatives cool. Every dollar they invested in branding likely paid off a million-fold. Sometimes, it’s frustrating to convince co-founders, executives, or investors who haven’t learned this lesson to assign budget to this. In my opinion, this is because branding is one of those whimsical and almost ephemeral things where it’s super hard to get direct market feedback or measure financial returns. You have to take a leap of faith and trust it will pay off. When you nail your branding, three things happen: 1. Customers seek you out (goodbye, endless ad spend). 2. Investors fight to get in (they're buying a story, not just numbers). 3. Top talent comes knocking (the best people want to be part of something cool and meaningful). TL;DR: Invest more in your brand like, right now. Almost everyone underinvests in it. Special hat tip to Studio Morfar, who has done branding for many of our projects, such as Kin AI, Skjaldborn, TaxHelper, and Cocktail Company. Shoutout also to Troels Nørlem (Scaleup Finance, Nume, Atlas (coming soon!), and more Bifrost Studios projects to come!) Much love, Thorbjørn Rønje

Earlier this year, the team at Yoderlay asked us to create an identity, website and app that would give them the foundations they needed to launch in early 2025. When we looked at the current landscape, we found that most competitors felt stale, cheap, overly masculine or just downright boring and so we wanted to create an identity and UI system that felt comfortably familiar but confidently different - bold and warm but crucially clear and to the point, because when users are dealing with high stress issues, we didn’t want anything getting in the way. Today we present our work for Yoderlay: https://lnkd.in/eTGuJzH3 Sabina Reynberg Karlson: MD & Project Manager Torsten Power Creative Director & Designer Miguel Gallo: Researcher Victor Rolf Janhagen: Strategist & Copywriter Oliver Scully: Designer Doug John Miller Illustrator Layo: UI Designer Hanna Söderholm: Front End Developer Bento (Mike Harrison): Motion Design

Founder at Purpose Talent (fmr. Kickstarter, Etsy & more)

I'm super excited to share Purpose Talent's new brand and visual identity with everyone. I've had the pleasure of working with the talented team at Studio Morfar to capture who we are, who we work with and the beliefs that shape how we operate. I couldn't be happier with Torsten Power, Sabina Reynberg Karlson and the entire team. They were able to bring to life the work we do through design, illustrations and animations in a way that feels authentic and human. Part of what it takes to build great teams is understanding that every person out there is unique - with their own quirks, strengths and weaknesses. If you can design and build around those, getting them working in harmony, great things can happen. I'm excited to keep helping disruptive & innovative companies do just that. The new website is live and I wrote a short update post to share more about some of the changes. Feel free to check em' out for yourself at the links below! ✌ www.purposetalent.xyz https://lnkd.in/gUVmSfJs

  • Even when you are quite literally a branding agency, there is still nothing as soul destroying and challenging as designing for yourself and so it’s generally something that gets pushed down to the bottom of the to-do list. That said, we recognised it was about time to wipe the dust off the old studio morfar logo file, make a few tweaks and then while we were at it, do a total re-design of the website to reflect the studio we are today rather than the one we were yesterday. And so today we present to you our freshly built internet home, where you can go to see our projects, process, faces and more. We’ve put a lot of thought and love into it and we feel it captures the Studio Morfar we’ve become so proud of. The design is intended to be simple and to the point, with nothing too flashy yet with warmth, consideration and subtle moments of delight. Take a look over at studiomorfar.com and let us know what you think! • 💕 And it was love at first sight 💕 Today, 3rd October 2024, marks one full year since the day we made the commitment to each other, merging our two agencies into one beautiful child - the new and improved version of Studio Morfar. It has been quite the journey and we’re excited to share more about everything we’ve been up to over the coming months. Thank you to our other halves, family and friends for the continuous support. Here’s to the next year 🥂 Lots of love, Sabina, Miguel, Torsten x 📸 Simon Baungård

  • Today we launch our studio's debut short film - SunFi | The Story of a City Lost in The Dark ☀️ Last year SunFi came to us with a beautiful vision - a vision of what Nigeria could be if families and businesses had better, simpler access to solar power. Rather than asking us to create a deck or website, they wanted something more emotionally captivating and story-driven which led us to create a film we're so deeply proud of. The team at SunFi were a dream to work with, giving us freedom and flexibility combined with carefully crafted notes to ensure the film would be enjoyable for an audience around the world while importantly feeling authentic and relatable to the people of Lagos and wider Nigeria. And to top it all off, the smooth voice you're hearing on the narration is that of their very own CEO, Rotimi Thomas 😎 Please ensure you put this on the highest resolution and turn those speakers up/ put those headphones in! 🎶 Client: SunFi Agency: Studio Morfar 🎬 Directed by: Torsten Power ✏️ Illustrated & animated by: Con McHugh 🎶 Sound design & music by: Alysha Takoushian 📝 Script by: Con McHugh & Torsten Power 🎤 Story & narration by: Rotimi Thomas (Inspired by team SunFi & its partners)
