Quiet transformation for iconic Boys’ School 🏫   The Central Foundation Boys’ School in London has undergone a transformation making the 150-year-old school more cohesive and modern in its design.   Hawkins\Brown is behind the transformation including a new three-court, multi-use semi-subterranean sports hall. The tight nature of the site meant that the sports hall was sunken under the courtyard with rooflights bringing in natural light ✨   A new purpose-built science building with modern facilities has also been built, and the existing Tabernacle Chapel was re-purposed to develop a Creative Arts Centre.   Overall, the design is a careful blend of the historic and the new future-proof design within the fabric of historic buildings. Troldtekt acoustic panels were specified across all ceilings. It’s not often that Troldtekt acoustic panels get the opportunity to wear a custom pink colour – but Tengbom architectural firm is tickled pink by it🎨 The transformation project in Stockholm has now received architecture magazine Dezeen’s prestigious award for Sustainable interior of the year 2024. For the project Tengbom focused on reusing both materials and furniture in order to revitalise a former industrial space without the need for large amounts of new materials. All materials – including the new Troldtekt ceilings – are installed with visible screws, making them easy to dismantle and reuse later. The jury’s reasoning stated that: 🗣️"Tengbom’s self-designed office offers a fun and new perspective on what a sustainable interior can look like. The renovation is easily comparable to a brand new interior and shows that the reuse of materials doesn't have to compromise on aesthetics." We have our very own “brick” in the new Danish Export Academy🧱   At the impressive academy in Silkeborg, the Danish Export Association will be hosting courses and events. Troldtekt is one of the companies that has supported the project, which is why we are lucky to get a nice spot on the “brick wall” at the entrance🧡   Troldtekt solutions also feature prominently in the architecture itself, where focus has been on both indoor climate and aesthetics. Congratulations to TRÆ ♻️🥳   On Thursday, the new landmark at the South Harbour in Aarhus, Denmark won the “The Green Award” at the Building Awards 2024. A well-deserved congratulation to PFA, Kilden & Hindby, Lendager, Artelia and the rest of the team behind it!   In addition to being Denmark’s highest wooden house, TRÆ is testing how far you can go with recycled materials. Reused wind turbine blades for solar shading and used roof panels on the facade are a few examples.   Also, there are three floors of the building dedicated to experiments. New energy in Njalsgade: From abandoned office to modern multi-user building🤩   With Over Byen Arkitekter at the helm, the old office building at Njalsgade 72 in Copenhagen has undergone a complete transformation.   Kitchens and toilet facilities have been carefully updated, the walls have been painted a new colour and the existing floors have been preserved to minimise resource waste.   Additionally, white-painted Troldtekt acoustic ceilings based on the cement type FUTURECEM™ were installed.
