    SuperConnectors : The Unsung Heroes in our Workplaces Over the past few months, Martin Rosengaard (from Unio) and I have met weekly to dive deep into the fascinating world of SuperConnectors! These individuals foster powerful connections between coworkers, ideas, and work communities. By creating shortcuts in organizational networks, SuperConnectors enable opportunities and ideas to flow across informal hierarchies. Their contributions are vital—but sadly, often under-recognized. In our research project, we’re tackling some exciting (and important) questions: 🔍 How can we identify SuperConnectors in the workplace? 🔍 How do they drive organizational success? 🔍 How can organizations activate, retain, and empower these individuals for more impact? We have gathered a wealth of insights in the first informal conversations across very different organizations like Q8, Pleo, Leman, Vertica (special shoutout to Gilles Jeronymos, Thea Tolstrup Bramming, Mikkel Yde Kjær for candidly sharing your inputs!) To me, the promise of this budding research is clear: by identifying and empowering SuperConnectors, organizations can significantly enhance collaboration and accelerate the flow of ideas across teams.   • 🎙️ Unio x Community Episode 2: What Defines a Broken Community? The shift to hybrid and remote work has reshaped our workplaces, offering new levels of flexibility and autonomy. Yet, as we gain personal freedom, our workplace communities are feeling the strain. The cracks in connectivity across organizations worldwide are becoming more evident. As Pernille Erichsen, Vice President at Danish Industry, recently pointed out: “The lack of employee loyalty is a problem. Increased flexibility comes at a high cost—reduced connection with colleagues, less feedback, and limited knowledge-sharing. When you’re less connected, you change jobs faster, making talent retention even harder.” (August 24, 2024) Below is an example of a broken workplace community divided into disconnected silos. 👇 💔 Such disconnection is clearly bad for business, but the issue extends well beyond commercial concerns. It's not just our workplaces that are suffering—international research shows that 1 in 3 adults today experience loneliness, and more than 280 million people globally are affected by depression, with social isolation being a significant factor. Despite these stark challenges, however, there is hope. With intentional action and the right tools, we can rebuild our communities—starting in our workplaces.     Unio x Community Episode 1: 👀 This Is What A Healthy Community Looks Like 👀 Many of us have experienced strong and healthy communities in our personal lives. The unique way people relate, trust and support each other in such a social environment 🤗 ❤️ 🤗 But how does a healthy community actually look like in terms of data? 🤔 Organizational Network Analysis (ONA) can help map communities by analyzing the various connections between their members. Within a company, for example, this can be done by tracking digital communication data, such as emails, instant messaging, and meeting invites. All anonymized to protect employee privacy while allowing for a detailed examination of interaction patterns. Below is an ONA data map example of a healthy corporate community. 👇 Unfortunately, most companies do not have such well-connected communities 💔 And hybrid and remote working have only made employee connections more scattered in recent years.     Do you know the first sign that someone is in a miserable job? 🔦 Anonymity. It's obvious when you think about it. How can anyone feel valued and seen, if nobody knows who they are?
