‘Tis the season... Here’s a local tip about what visitors to Copenhagen might enjoy during the festive season: December 13 is the one day in the year when you can experience the wonderful Santa Lucia parade in Copenhagen. We love this tradition and have our version of the original Italian Santa Lucia song titled ‘Nu bæres lyset frem’ (Now the light is carried forth), accommodated to the darkest time of the year in the region. 🕯️🌲 As water simultaneously takes center stage in Copenhagen and the harbour area is a year-round favorite recreational spot, it might not come as a big surprise that a particularly alternative take on the Santa Lucia parade has become hugely popular in the city: the FLOATING SANTA LUCIA PARADE. 😇 At the floating parade, cool kayaks in all colors sail through Copenhagen's canals dressed in lights and Christmas decorations, greeting spectators while singing the beautiful Santa Lucia song. It can be experienced by curious landlubbers from the quaysides at Nyhavn, Christianshavn, Blox, Gl. Strand, and Højbro Plads. It starts (at 5:00 pm) and ends (at 6:45 pm) at the organiser’s place, Kayak Bar. Afterward, consider treating yourself to an authentic Christmassy wrap-up with a glass of local mulled wine (we call it ‘Gløgg’) and ‘æbleskiver’ (a delicious Danish pancake ball) at one of the city’s cosy Christmas markets, food markets, and cafes. 😋🎄🎅 #meetings #Copenhagen #Christmas #momentsthatmatters

"Copenhagen – cozy, curious, and conscious". Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting the German female empowerment network, MICE Ladies, created and led by the visionary Tanja Knecht, in Copenhagen. Tanja’s network consists of top corporate freelancers, who are always on the outlook for new opportunities within, among other areas, how to create successful sustainable meetings. A topic that lies very close to our hearts. On top of that, Tanja’s group had the pleasure of experiencing Copenhagen dressed for Christmas. 🎄🎄🎄 Before the MICE Ladies arrived, Tanja also took time to explore the picturesque old market town of Elsinore, thus going beyond Copenhagen’s city borders. Tanja and our colleagues Søren Simonsen and Lene Corgan then welcomed 11 lovely MICE Ladies at the centrally located Grand Joanne Hotel. Together, they went over stick and stone through the Danish capital, visiting sustainable venues and restaurants and engaging in miscellaneous activities. Leading local sustainability profiles from within the industry also happily shared experiences and inspiration on how to create future sustainable meetings during the 2-day visit. Thank you for joining us in Copenhagen, Tanja, and Female Empowerment, and for being such great sports! We hope you had a lovely time in Copenhagen and look forward to welcoming you back soon. 😉 Tanja Knecht MICE Ladies Travel Tribe Linda Faust Tina Hansen Wade Peters-Munch Didde Hedebo Steinmann Dorte Juhl Østergaard Norrlyst Koncernen HeyCaptain Søren Simonsen Anne Nikolaides Lene Corgan #meetings #Copenhagen #sustainability #createmomentsnotthings #impactthatmatters #miceladies

6 ways to do Christmas in Copenhagen like a local🎄 Whether you're visiting Copenhagen for leisure or business, we always recommend that you do like the locals and seek out more authentic experiences and activities. And Christmas is no exception. Here are our 6 ways to do Copenhagen during Christmas: 🎄Traditional Christmas lunch: Chances are you've already heard about our delicious open-faced sandwiches known as smørrebrød. But during the festive season, this delicacy truly takes centre stage when Copenhageners go for traditional Christmas lunches with friends, family and colleagues. Going to a smørrebrød restaurant is a must - just make sure to book in advance. 🎄 Gløgg: We've said it before, and we'll say it again. No Christmas in Copenhagen is complete without mulled wine, also known as gløgg. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find a Dane who can remember a December month where gløgg did not play a part. Whether you drink it at Christmas markets, food markets or cafes, there is some for every taste. And lots of non-alcoholic options as well. 🎄Christmas markets: Copenhagen is a genuine Christmas city, where it is impossible not to get in the spirit for the Christmas holiday season. The best place to soak up the atmosphere is at one of Copenhagen’s many Christmas markets. 🎄 Santa Lucia parade: On 13 December, you can experience an alternative take on the traditional Danish Santa Lucia parade, when kayaks sail through the city's canals dressed in lights and Christmas decorations. 🎄 Ice skating: Across the city, there are several picturesque ice skating rinks that attract locals and visitors of all ages and ice skating abilities😉. 🎄Alternative spa experience: Get your saltwater injection in a spa sailing around Copenhagen’s harbour or enjoy the unrivalled harbour views. CopenHot offers a spa experience that we bet you’ve never tried before. Relax in an outdoor hot tub with 40-degree hot water that guarantees you'll get warm even on a cold winter day. You can also opt for an authentic sauna session in one of the wood-fired saunas. Our colleagues at Visit Copenhagen have gathered the best tips for an authentic Christmas in Copenhagen.👇 https://lnkd.in/gKpHNy57

Copenhagen behind the scenes...👀 Our dear friend Sabrina Meyers (she/her) - Event Director (Global), was back in Copenhagen this week to see, taste and try the latest from many of our Copenhagen partners. We’ve lost count of how many times Sabrina’s been here, and yet, it’s never difficult to introduce her to new things to see and do.🙌 This time around, Sabrina got to practice her gløgg-making skills at Tivoli, have a go at winter bathing in the harbour, hone her ice skating skills at the ice skating rink at the Kgs Nytorv square and eat in truly historic surroundings. Just to name a few activities. Thank you to Kaspar Mørk Arianto, Esther Straarup Wright, Martin Wrona, Pernille Krüeger, Bjarke Just Nielsen, Patrick Nielsen, Katrine Bay Ramsdahl, Ties Schaap, Anne Nikolaides and Hey Captain for showing Sabrina around! #eventprofs #copenhagen #sustainability

Looking back on 2024 the key highlights for our Business Events team have been all the opportunities we have had to connect with our clients - old and new 🙂 One of our last events of the year took place earlier this month when we hosted an evening event with 40 clients in London. The evening offered insights into what Copenhagen and our suppliers can offer as a sustainable events destination, and the clients were treated to a cozy candle-making workshop to get everyone in the mood for the season of Danish ‘hygge’. Thank you to our Copenhagen partners for sharing insights and for your generous spirit 👍😊 Christa Rosengren Emmy Pettersson Birgitte Brahe Louise Agerbek Riedmann Gitte Neerup Karoline Fog Katrine Bay Ramsdahl #copenhagen #meetingprofs

Our vocal cords are all warmed up for another day of meetings at IBTM World.🎤 The thing about sing-along sessions is that while they might bring you out of your comfort zone they are a great way to bond over something as universal as singing. And they’re a great way to start an otherwise busy day full of non-stop meetings. And while our Copenhagen delegation nailed the improvised Bon Jovi cover, they’re even better at introducing you to Copenhagen so don’t hesitate to stop by the Denmark stand (H40).😉 Here’s who you can meet👇 Anna Ørsted Pedersen Søren Simonsen Bettina Reventlow-Mourier Maiken Schultz Sus Nygaard Kit Lykketoft VisitDenmark Business Events Christa Rosengren Anders Emborg Jane Pernille Graham Gregersen Dorthe Freed Pedro Montoya Navarro Peter Fenger Ken Brix Andersen Anders Nørgaard Lydholm Katrine Bay Ramsdahl Thomas Corneliussen Per Ankaer Lisbeth Simonsen Esther Straarup Wright Dorte Juhl Østergaard David Tholander Christine Alsing Robin Jensen
