AWARD NEWS! 😀🥇 Last night at The Meetings Star Awards ceremony during Conventa 2025 in Ljubljana, our dear colleague Anne Dissing picked up the XL Meeting Destinations Award 2024/25. We’re both happy and humble that Copenhagen has been named number 1. in the XL category (which denotes meeting destinations that can host more than 2,000 event attendees) - and we promise to continue working tirelessly with sustainability and legacy in meetings, creating innovative meeting concepts and experiences that’ll change people’s views on event organizing, and, of course, develop extraordinary destination actions such as the recent CopenPay initiative 🍀✨ THANK YOU Gorazd Čad and the team behind Conventa, Kongres Magazine, and the Meetings Star Awards for honouring us 🙏 A HUGE SHOUT OUT also goes out to the many professional partners in our local Meetingplace network; without your strong commitment to both collaboration and development, Copenhagen wouldn’t be the frontrunner MICE destination it is today 😊 #eventprofs #meetingprofs #greenmeetings #meetingsstar #awards #copenhagen #conventa2025 Gorazd Cad CONVENTA KONGRES MAGAZINE Anne Dissing Jan Orsic

Last week mci group leaders met up at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in Copenhagen for the 2025 edition of their Business Academy💡🦉✨ Both strongly committed to the sustainability agenda, mci group’s and our destination’s green profiles fit like a glove, and we hope all attendees enjoyed some inspiring and action-packed days in our city 🍀😀 With a programme focused on great knowledge-sharing, learning and networking – and time to explore Copenhagen too, of course - we are confident that everyone departed with their heads full of brilliant new ideas and fond memories, and we hope to see you soon again! 🤗 #eventprofs #meetingplace #copenhagen #mcigroup #learning Erica Fawer, SEPC Marine Mugnier Tania Colsa Kit Lykketoft Cathrine Seidel T. On 13-15 February, Copenhagen Gaming Week 2025 takes place for the second year in a row in Bella Center Copenhagen, and this year the organisers have implemented two distinctive legacy tracks to support the agenda of broader value creation 💎 🖥️ 😉 Copenhagen Gaming Week saw the light of day in 2024 and was created by Bellagroup, Blackbox Media, and Wonderful Copenhagen with financial support from the Municipality of Copenhagen. Attracting 12,500 visitors in its first year - and thus a hugely popular gaming festival from day one - the event not only supports the city’s ambitions to boost low-season tourism but also includes strong legacy efforts. On top of introducing an action-packed programme, including some of the biggest names in gaming and a dedicated LEGO® area, the 2025 event also operates with two separate legacy tracks with local partners such as Games Denmark, Nimbi GameLab, Danske Seniorer (a nationwide organization for seniors and senior associations) and the Danish Police Online Patrol on board. 🎮 🕹️ 👾 The firsty legacy track called TAGS, Tomorrow’s Awesome Games Showcase, is a platform for 20 startups and 18 groups of students who are given an opportunity to showcase their projects to a larger audience, game enthusiasts, industry experts, investors, and publishers and receive open feedback that might take their games to the next level. The game developers are also offered guidance on key topics like business development, pitch training, and financial management from Copenhagen Business Hub, which supports small & medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs in the capital region. At the same time, event visitors also get a rare chance to experience upcoming games and meet the people behind them. ☝ 👮🔥 The second legacy track deals with digital security amongst seniors. This initiative focuses on strengthening seniors’ digital robustness and resilience to cybercrime - an important task for the police, authorities, and the elderly. Before the official opening, the Police Online Patrol will thus teach 350 seniors how to identify and avoid the most common attempts at cybercrime and social engineering and gain a basic understanding of, for instance, secure passwords and the protection of personal information. Copenhagen Gaming Week's legacy tracks are co-developed by Wonderful Copenhagen's award-winning Copenhagen Legacy Lab - an international frontrunner in creating positive long-term impact from congresses and events to support the agenda of broader value creation in society. For further inspiration on how to make an impact with your next congress, meeting, or event, feel free to contact Project Manager at Copenhagen Legacy Lab, Jakob Kjeldgaard at jkj@woco.dk #eventprofs #meetingplace #copenhagen #legacy Bellagroup Bella Center Copenhagen Andreas Bjerrum Larsen Gerda-Marie Rist Jakob Kjeldgaard Jakob Lund Kristensen Niels A. In Copenhagen, there is always something cooking - and right now, among other great stuff, it is the fun and festive carnival season called 'Fastelavn’ 🎉😀 Since no festive season in Denmark is complete without food, Fastelavn also equals the arrival of the delicious 'fastelavnsboller' (cream-filled buns) sold from January to well into March across the city. Fastelavnsboller are characterized by their round shape, puffy texture, and delicious filling. And naturally, Copenhagen's incredible bakeries and pastry houses, some of which have already garnered international acclaim for their cardamom and cinnamon rolls, also excel in creating out-of-this-world fastelavnboller! It is almost as if they run their own local ‘fastelavnsbolle-game,' whilst dishing out some extraordinary and innovative takes on the traditional pastry 😋 🍩 As the present-day Fastelavnsbolle thus comes in all forms, tastes, and designs, going off on the hunt to find the bakery or pastry house with the best buns could also be a great off-site activity 😜 👉 But even without adding this local fastelavnsbolle-craze to your itinerary, there is plenty to do in Copenhagen this time of year, and as always, you are very welcome to reach out to our team at meetings@woco.dk for help to put together the perfect winter itinerary for your groups and events. #eventprofs #meetingplace #copenhagen #fastelavn #gastronomy 📸: Maria Kathrine Preisler & Mark Tanggaard

How do you pitch Copenhagen to a client? 😉 That was the question we asked 46 clients to answer on a postcard the other week in Germany when we - along with our Meetingplace partners 1 Hotel Copenhagen, Bellagroup, Villa Copenhagen, Ovation Scandinavia, Tivoli, Horizon by Tour partner, Grand Joanna, Strawberry, Comwell Hotels, and Scandic Hotels – had the pleasure of hosting two ”An evening with Copenhagen” events at the NIO House in Frankfurt and Loewenloft in Cologne. Our enthusiastic and committed crowds thus helped pitch our destination on a postcard to an ‘imaginary’ friend or client, explaining why Copenhagen definitely should be on the radar for one’s next event. And let’s just say, our invitees nailed it! 🙌 🫶 Among the many good reasons for choosing Copenhagen listed were: 👉 more than just talking about sustainability 👉 packed with culinary delights 👉 one of the world’s most livable cities 👉 lots of cultural sights 👉 jump in the harbour for a dip A huge thank you goes out to everyone joining us at the two events. Thanks for being such great sports! And for being an enthusiastic and committed crowd whilst getting updated on Copenhagen in a slightly different way, tasting Danish-inspired food, and engaging in lots of networking👌🙂 Thank you also to our 10 dedicated Meetingplace partners and our talented partner in Germany, Martina Guse, for joining in. This week, our colleague Lene Corgan had the opportunity to join the annual Micebook Expo in London. Copenhagen was well-represented by our Meetingplace partners Pedro Montoya Navarro from IDEA Nordic and Christa Rosengren from Strawberry. Connecting with industry colleagues and clients is always key for our team to keep you updated with what is happening in Copenhagen and share the latest insights and best practices. Remember to always reach out to our Business Events team at meetings@woco.dk if there is anything we can assist with. #meetingplace #eventprofs #miceprofs #Copenhagen #micebook Lene Corgan Christa Rosengren Pedro Montoya Navarro micebook 📸 Copenhagen CVB

Ever tried re-designing association-destination partnerships using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®? 🙃 - That’s exactly what we did in Brussels the other day, when we, along with the ESAE - European Society of Association Executives, co-hosted an insightful LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® workshop for 20 international Association and Event Leaders. Our focus was to find new perspectives on how to build trustful, successful, and sustainable partnerships between event owners and destinations 💡. And why this? – Because international association congresses continue to be incredibly valuable platforms to foster communities, exchange knowledge, ignite innovation, and create solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems. And successful planning and execution of these events requires both strong collaboration, partnerships, and trust between the event owners and the destinations in which these events take place. In addition, in disruptive times the need to challenge how we handle events becomes even more relevant - and the need to forge, form, and establish strong, trusting partnerships is ever more important! By means of LEGO Serious Play® (LSP), a Danish open-source community-based facilitation methodology nurturing creative thinking and communication, we used LEGO® trees, sharks, and a myriad of other fun and colorful bricks to frame the events of tomorrow and to visualize, how we collectively can create more beneficial, resilient and trusting partnerships and strategic long-term contributions - i.e. legacy - to society. The result? - Lots of useful takeaways on how to align purpose and expectations, create honest and transparent communication, ensure efficient execution, create good broker systems, and develop trusting and respectful relationships. The feedback was great and the workshop a winning experience thanks to: ⭐ Our brilliant participants and their infectious engagement and passion! ⭐ Stylianos Filopoulos from Association By Design ⭐ The ESAE team: Ioannis Pallas, Wiktoria Czarnecka and Beatrice Seregni ⭐ Our LSP-facilitators Robert Rasmussen and Dominik Rinnhofer Thanks to everyone for joining in! 🙌 #eventprofs #associationleaders #copenhagen #legacy Bettina Reventlow-Mourier Gerda-Marie Rist Jesper Grenaa Stylianos Filopoulos Mohamed Mezghani 📸 Bettina Reventlow-Mourier

Oh, the joys of winter bathing! If you haven’t tried it before, here’s a threshold you’ll have to cross while in Copenhagen! 👙❄️🩳 🤗 But where to go and when?👆 In January and February, you’ll be able to join a new series of free winter bathing events in the Danish capital, where you can try how it feels to lower your body into the water at a temperature that is much closer to the freezing point than your morning shower. The popular activity occurs in safe and guided environments at four Copenhagen hotels, each hosting a guided winter bathing event on Wednesdays bw. 4:00-6:00 PM from 15 January to 5 February 2025. The events are open for all - hotel guests and anyone else who might be interested. There'll be changing facilities and experienced winter bathers to guide and support you. Afterward, you can enjoy a hot drink to get the full experience of the endorphin rush caused by a trip in the icy water. Bring your swimwear, a towel, slippers, a hat, gloves, and anything else that might be nice to have on hand. No registration is needed, simply show up and everything is taken care of. PROGRAMME: 🌊15 January: Copenhagen Island by Fisketorvet - check out video below 😉 🌊 22 January: Copenhagen Marriott Hotel by Kalvebod Brygge 🌊 29 January: Scandic Spectrum - meeting point: Kalvebod Bølge 🌊 5 February: Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel by Islands Brygge For more details, keep an eye on the individual hotels’ SoMe accounts👆 Happy polar bear plunging! 🐻❄️ 👙❄️🩳 Bellagroup Scandic Hotels Radisson Hotel Group Arp-Hansen Hotel Group #eventprofs #meetingplace #copenhagen
