Debugging the digitized welfare society. A research center at the IT University of Copenhagen.

Om os

The Center for Digital Welfare (CDW) zooms in on the challenges of digitalization, i.e. how digitalization has changed and continues to change the welfare society. Today’s government institutions and citizens already have a good deal of experience with the advantages and disadvantages of digitalization. Still, as a society we have yet to establish what constitutes a livable, digitized welfare society. The CDW sets a new agenda for digital interaction and integration in a digitized, democratic, welfare state. The CDW leverages the vast interdisciplinary knowledge of the IT University, an institution founded to understand the role of digital technologies in society. The Center is committed to creating solutions that are diverse, engaging and effective based on in-depth research and critical experimentation. With such an approach, the CDW will generate robust insights to create social change for better welfare. The Center brings together a wide circle of people to deliberate on what are the greatest and most urgent challenges facing the digital welfare society today. In particular, the CDW focuses on research collaborations that investigate and develop the Nordic welfare model in a digital age. To develop and evaluate relevant solutions, the Center sets up official partnerships in which our researchers take up research activities and projects in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders.
