14Spurious jumps in time series between historical and future periods. Spruious/inconsistent climate change signals in T and Pr29.01.201829.01.2018BCCR-WRF331CNorESM1-MEUR-44historical, rcp45, rcp85-Inconsistent connection between historical run and rcps, causing spurious jumps in time series. Reason not ultimately clear yet.ETH diagnostics caught spurious climate change signals and jumps in the time series when switching from the historical run to the RCPs. As a result we have unpublished all our EUR-44 simulations. This is not an issue that could be caught by the qc checker and only appears when examining climate change between historical and future periods. The evaluation run is therefore okay but we have taken it down as well until we determine the cause of the errors. Two potential sources are that namelist files were changed between the present and future time periods and/or links to LBCs were incorrect.-Simulations have been unpublished.SolvedBCCR

15Inconsistent boundary forcing29.01.201819.04.2021All RCMs driven by CNRM-CM5 LBCsCNRM-CM5EUR-11, EUR-44historical-2D and 3D forcing fields from the CNRM-CM5 GCM come from different members of the same GCM, i.e. are out of phase (though they have a similar climatology). Technical error, but influence on RCM results in the interior domain is likely weak at climate scale.

16Spurious precipitation patterns North of the Alps29.01.201829.01.2018IPSL-WRF331FIPSL-CM5A-MREUR-11, EUR-44historical, rcp45, rcp85-Suspicious precipitation change signals in the northern part of the Alps that might at least partly be considered unphysical. The most affected season is summer (JJA), but also adjacent months are concerned. In detail, the RCM output in terms of precipitation along the northern flanks of the Alps shows a very low correlation with precipitation amounts in the driving GCM and an opposite future change signal (summer precipitation increase instead of a clear summer precipitation decrease in the driving GCM).The behaviour in central Europe (possibly different than other GCM-RCMs) is consistent with a very reactive convective scheme and the cut-off lows generated as internal variability. However the convection scheme might not be very appropriate in these circumstances. In future WRF runs we will use another scheme. We'll also change the microphysics which was giving too high amounts of snow over the moutains.-Be careful when analyzing model results along the northerm rim of the Alps (and possibly in further parts of Central Europe).InfoMeteoSwiss

This means that effective glacier points will accumulate unphysically large values, which skews area averages etc. For MOHC-HadGEM2-ES the values are capped at 10m water equiv.Submitted by modelling groupSolved in v2 simulations (released in June/July 2019)When making averages of snow cover, please exclude points where snow lasts for more than a season. Note that this may have happened in the beginning and not in the end of a transient run. The simulation must be redone to solve this problem. Final recommendation: Use v2 simulations.SolvedDMI

The error occurs during saving output to grib files and leads to discrete integer values in daily and sub-daily snw. monthly means may look OK but based on the discrete sub-daily snw.
