When Anna Odlaug of Chicago was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome in 2018 the Dravet Syndrome Foundation (DSF) provided support to the family.

Grandfather Ted Odlaug decided to help support the mission of DSF through fundraising and is now a member of the board. Soon his extended family got involved in increasing awareness through their own fundraising campaigns. In 2019 the family led by James (Jimmy) Brennan (President of McKelvey Homes In St. Louis, Mo) and Kathy Brennan McGuire, siblings of Anna’s grandmother Pat, wanted to help and as a result organized the first Dance for Dravet in St. Louis. It was a great success and they raised over $183,000 for the foundation. But they didn’t stop there! With Jim Brennan at the helm, and with the incredible support of the entire Brennan family, they have continued to host Dance for Dravet for 4 more consecutive years with the 5th annual Dance for Dravet in 2023 raising over $530,000 for DSF! Dance for Dravet alone has brought in over $2 million for DSF and is the largest fundraiser to date. This is only possible because of the support from the Odlaug and Brennan families and friends, and is due in large part to the generosity of the St. Louis homebuilding industry.

In addition to the Dance for Dravet events, the family has raised funds for DSF from other fundraising events and individual donations. You can find more information at www.annaanddsf.orgThis incredible achievement has led to the Brennan and Odlaug families raising more than $2 million to date for DSF and recently setting a new fundraising goal of $3 million with no intention of stopping anytime soon.
