How Public Employment Services Can Help Attract Skilled Talent from Third Countries
A new Thematic Paper by the European Network of Public Employment Services examines the role of Public Employment Services (PES) in recruiting skilled labour among third country-nationals (TCNs). The role of PES in addressing labour and skills shortages by recruiting talent from abroad has been limited to date. However current labour market trends foster an increase in PES engagement. The Thematic paper draws on desk research, a survey to PES and a workshop held in Brussels in 2023.

Tailoring Digital Services for Vulnerable Groups
Digital service delivery is, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, omnipresent in the service offer provided by Public Employment Services (PES) and has proved to be effective in particular for jobseekers who are closer to the labour market. This however raises the question of whether and how to provide services online to jobseekers who either have no or very low levels of digital skills or who do not have the resources to access digital services. The European Network of Public Employment Service hosted a Thematic Review Workshop (TRW) in Croatia in November 2023 to explore these questions. A new Thematic Paper now summarises the key findings from this exchange.

21st PES Board Meeting under Belgian Presidency discusses digitalisation, use of AI in PES, and challenges ahead
During the 21st Public Employment Services (PES) Network Board Meeting, held on 6-7 June in Liège, Belgium, Heads of PES came together to discuss challenges, including digitalisation, career guidance and PES collaborations with enlargement countries. The meeting also addressed preparations for the 10th anniversary of the Network.

Announcing the publication of the PES Network Annual Report and 2024 Work Programme
The European Network of Public Employment Services (PES Network) reflects on the past year's achievements and challenges, setting its agenda for 2024. In 2023, amid changing labour market conditions, the members of PES Network showed resilience in addressing skills shortages and integrating displaced individuals. To this end, the Annual Report of the PES Network and the PES Network Work Programme 2023-2024 have been published, outlining the strategic priorities and initiatives for the upcoming year.

PES Network Publishes its New Benchlearning Manual
This Manual is tailored for practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders involved in public employment services (PES). Its goal is to provide practical guidance to enhance PES’ performance and to support the modernisation of PES.
