Borås (Sweden), Cartagena (Spain), Nuremberg (Germany) and Vienna (Austria) finalists for 2025 Access City Award
These cities have demonstrated best practice and highlighted their commitment to ensure accessibility to urban life for persons with disabilities, including for built environment and public spaces (such as buildings, roads or parks), public transport, facilities and services, as well as information and communication technologies.

San Cristóbal de La Laguna wins 2024 Access City Award for advancing accessibility for persons with disabilities
Today, the Spanish city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna received the 2024 Access City Award, for its comprehensive approach to accessibility and its dedication to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities. The award was presented this morning at the Access City Award Ceremony by European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli.

Five cities have been shortlisted for the 2024 Access City Award competition: Łódź, Saint-Quentin, San Cristóbal de la Laguna, South Dublin County and Tübingen.

Commission proposes European Disability and Parking Card valid in all Member States
Today, the Commission has proposed the introduction of a European Disability Card as well as the enhancement of the current European Parking Card for persons with disabilities. Both cards will be recognised all across the EU and make it easier for persons with disabilities to travel across the European Union.

More than 2,500 persons with disabilities contribute to the European Disability Card initiative
3,361 persons replied to the public consultation feeding into preparation of the Commission’s legislative proposal for a European Disability Card to be recognised by all Member States. 2,632 respondents were persons with disabilities.
