Delhi school gets bomb threat, classes shifted to online

    Synopsis

This is not the first instance of such threats disrupting schools in the national capital. On December 14, the Delhi Police Special Cell identified a student of a private school as the person who had sent a bomb threat email to the Paschim Vihar school.

A private school in Delhi's Dwarka area -- DPS Dwarka in Sector 23 -- received a bomb threat on Friday, prompting police response and a shift to online classes.

Emergency response teams were sent to the school after the threat was received. Students were moved to online learning for the day. Police are investigating the situation, but no further details are currently available.

This incident follows a string of similar threats against Delhi schools. On December 14, a student was identified as the source of a bomb threat email sent to a Paschim Vihar school. The student confessed and received counseling, while parents were advised to monitor the child's behavior.

Delhi school bomb threat: Rising incidents

Multiple schools received bomb threat emails on December 13 and 17, as well as on December 14. Thirty schools were targeted on December 13, with investigations suggesting the emails originated outside India, according to South East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Kumar Singh. He stated that "an investigation into the fake threats revealed that the e-mails sent to the schools had been generated outside the country."

Following previous threats, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed concern about the impact on students. On December 13, he said, "if they continue unabated." The Delhi High Court ordered the city government and police to create a plan for handling bomb threats by November 19, with a deadline of eight weeks.
