#ÄIOweek7 - Friends Day in Estonia!🔴 At ÄIO, we’re more than just a team—we’re a group of scientists, innovators, dreamers, and friends. We turn challenges into opportunities, ideas into breakthroughs, and hard work into a shared success story. Happy Friends Day! So this is what we did this week: - Kristi Lember gave a presentation at Tehnopol event about how public funding has supported our growth - the whole team learned how to use Canva and how to take maximum from ÄIO's brand kit that we have set up there - welcomed Bioceb student to do her internship with us - continued the work in lab and pilot plant - prepared for spring events in Estonia and around the world - finalized details for next week: journalists visit, onboarding new team member and of course lab work and working on ÄIO's fats and oils

Meet our next team members Mane Hovhannisyan (MH, Armenia) and Sajesh Nithianandam (SN, India) and Mattia Magnalardo (MM, Italy)! 🚀You in 3 words: MH: Ambitious, creative, empathetic SN: Curious, active, adaptable MM: Sensitive, imaginative, sporty 👑Nickname: MH: People at work call me "money" 😎💰 SN: Saju MM: Magna 👨🔬Funniest science related moment: MH: When I found out that petri dishes are NOT actually named after our co-founder Petri😬. #FirstTimeInABioLab MM: When my supervisor flooded the floor of the lab with liquid nitrogen 🪩Superpower: MH: Not bothered by #Estonian weather. I like it. SN: Sports. MM: Running in the forest, losing myself there for hours, and finding the way out after reaching out the nature spirits. 🦭If you would be lab equipment, what would you be: MH: A #centrifuge. Reliable - if taken care of but upset me and I will explode.  SN: A #bioreactor with yeasts, so I can metabolize the crazy amount of sugar I take in daily and turn it into something useful, like our ÄIO oil and fats! MM: An #erlenmeyer flask: it is like the atmosphere of the planet Earth (liquid medium) that hosts life (our specialized yeast). 💕Secret hobby: MH: Crocheting and knitting, comes in handy in Estonia. SN: Window shopping. MM: Biking through the forest. 🔮The most misunderstood lab fact? MH: I don't think people realize how much cleaning and washing up goes into lab work.  SN: That in labs scientists don't mix random chemicals and spell Abra Kadabra. MM: Researchers are actually working hard, and biotech companies have a huge impact on people's daily life. 🔴Why ÄIO? MH: I am very passionate about sustainability, environmental preservation and innovation. I also like to be challenged, so working at ÄIO is like a dream. SN: I joined ÄIO because of my strong interest in side stream valorization, particularly in creating valuable and sustainable products from it. My research interests and previous projects closely aligns with ÄIO's mission, which I have admired and followed for a while. I am thrilled to contribute to making sustainable fats and oils a mainstream reality alongside this innovative and inspiring team. MM: ÄIO is really the perfect workplace for whoever wants to realize the very glorious idea of sustainability but never feels to do enough… The international, fun and bold team members and an healthy work-life balance is the recipe of ÄIO to personal gratification and future success.
