A network and a practical learning platform with the goal to strengthen cybersecurity globally!
About us
The European Union External Cyber Capacity Building Network – or the EU CyberNet – launched in September 2019 for a duration of four years. Its purpose is to 1) strengthen the global delivery, coordination and coherence of the EU’s external cyber capacity building projects, and 2) reinforce the EU’s own capacity to provide technical assistance to third countries in the field of cybersecurity and countering cybercrime. The EU CyberNet is a project led by the Estonian Information System Authority in consortium with competent authorities from Finland, Germany and Luxembourg that aims to create a network of cyber experts and establish a community of stakeholders to support the EU and implement its cyber capacity building initiatives in EU‘s partner countries. The project is funded by the European Union (Directorate-General for International Development and Cooperation).

Glad to take part in #NATO Annual Cyber Defence Conference. Our Training and Services Lead Lauri Aasmann was part of panel discussion on how can governments and #NATO better partner with industry to build resilience and strengthen our responses to cyber threats. Lauri Aasmann examined how governments and private companies can cooperate better, at both national and international level, to counter cyber threats by showcasing best practices and discussing ideas for future initiatives. He stressed that since we’ve become to a point in cybersecurity where countries and governments cannot manage on their own and need to engage with private sector, because many of #cybersecurity services are outsourced or private sector has better threat intelligence information. Moreover, he discussed the role of government-funded innovation accelerations which can allow novel, but positively disruptive ideas into defence industry that has high entry barriers, and cooperation initiatives such as #EUCyberNet and others that facilitate knowledge transfer from private to public sector.

United and lovely selfie to wrap up the workshop with my Uruguayan colleagues! It was a privilege to conduct a successful workshop on Security by Design in Uruguay alongside my wonderful Portuguese co-trainer, Sérgio Bryton. A heartfelt thank you to EU CyberNet for allowing me to lead this workshop and to experience such a beautiful and unique country in the LAC region. Special thanks to all the participants and professionals who actively engaged in the training, sharing their insights and expertise, which enriched the entire experience. Working together with such professionals was a real pleasure for me. I’d also like to express my gratitude to the LAC4 and its dynamic project manager, Cesar Moline. Collaborating with such dedicated individuals is always a pleasure. Through EU CyberNet we are not just training and empowering professionals, we are building a global community in cybersecurity, setting education standards, and fostering collaboration. I am proud to contribute to this meaningful mission. The world is one, and it’s small. Let’s care about security together! 🌍🔐
