Graanul Invest’s Continued Commitment to Efficient Logistics. Maintaining a small feedstock procurement radius is key to our operational efficiency. By sourcing from suppliers closest to our production sites, we support local communities, reduce costs, lower our environmental impact, and ensure an industry-leading low-carbon footprint. Despite a challenging market in 2023, with reduced sawmill production capacities in the Baltics, we limited our weighted average sourcing radius to 43.48 km. This was a slight increase from 2022 levels but still well below our 3-year average, showing our team’s continued commitment to optimizing our supply chain, even in the face of industry challenges. To find out more detailed information on how ESG drives and defines our processes, you are most welcome to explore our latest Sustainability Report. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dgtE6ipZ

In 2023, we achieved an 11% reduction in our Scope 1 emissions compared to 2022. This milestone reflects our continued commitment to mitigating our environmental impact and improving overall ESG performance. 🔍 What are Scope 1 emissions? They represent the direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources that we own or control, including fuel combustion in company vehicles (mobile combustion) and on-site power generation (stationary combustion). Reducing Scope 1 emissions is our first priority because these are the ones we have the most control over and can directly manage. We are proud to report a significant decrease of 6,761 CO2e tons in our mobile combustion emissions, resulting in an 11% reduction overall. This improvement is a real testament to our material handling efficiency and equipment maintenance. Reducing Scope 1-3 emissions is essential in the global effort to combat climate change, and we remain committed to continuing our journey towards a greener future. Please read our Sustainability Report to learn more about our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dgtE6ipZ

We are encouraged and impressed to see that the UK Government has established the next steps towards integrating greenhouse gas removals (GGRs) into the UK’s Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). The consultation released on May 23rd focuses on key principles, limitations, and pathways for both engineered and nature-based approaches for CO₂ removal. Bioenergy with Carbon Capture are Storage (BECCS) is listed as one of the engineering-based approaches for achieving net zero in the UK. Graanul Invest applauds the early development of potential routes to market for BECCS GGRs and stands for: ▪ Unquestionable sustainability and high efficiency within BECCS value chains for maximizing the positive impact of the resulting GGR credits. ▪ Robust monitoring, reporting, and verification of GGRs that follow best global practices. ▪ Key regulation supporting innovative technologies from early stages.
