  • Dear friends! Important information! The Estonian Tax and Customs Board (MTA) has launched a vehicle tax calculator that shows the annual tax and registration fee based on a vehicle's license plate. MTA also notes that the amount displayed in the calculator is for informational purposes and may differ from the actual tax amount due. The motor vehicle tax will take effect on January 1, 2025. This tax will apply to all vehicles registered in the Traffic Register. The exact tax amount will be calculated once the law comes into force, based on data from the Traffic Register of the Transport Agency. The calculator can be found on the MTA website: https://lnkd.in/dAbAcVjb You can find more information here: https://lnkd.in/dzZ_3X7Y

  • Dear friends! We turn your attention! The Riigikogu approved amendments to the Accounting Act that reduce the administrative burden on businesses and promote the use of e-invoices. These amendments allow companies to independently initiate registration as e-invoice recipients in the commercial register, a task previously handled by an authorised e-invoice operator. Additionally, only the European technical standard requirement will apply in the future unless the parties agree to use a different standard. In the future, all companies registered in the commercial register as e-invoice recipients will have the right to demand e-invoices from sellers. This right applies to all those obliged to keep accounting records, but is not mandatory. The amendments will come into effect on 1 July 2025.

  • Dear friends! We turn your attention! The government approved amendments to the Accounting Act to implement the EU directive on sustainability reporting and to revise the classification of companies by size. The new rules require large companies and those listed on the stock exchange to include a sustainability report in their annual statements, following European reporting standards. These measures aim to provide more reliable information on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. The changes also affect national requirements for preparing and auditing sustainability reports, with new thresholds for different categories of companies. This will reduce administrative burdens, maintaining benefits for micro and small enterprises, which will be able to submit shortened reports.

  • Dear friends! Important news! The Ministry of Finance has submitted for approval a draft law aimed at raising several tax-free thresholds for expenses incurred by company employees. The reason for the changes is the increase in prices over recent years. The tax-free compensation limit for the use of a personal car for business trips will increase to 50 cents per kilometer and 550 euros per month. Daily allowances for employees traveling abroad on business will be tax-free up to 75 euros for the first 15 days, after which the amount will decrease to 40 euros per day. The 400-euro annual limit for tax-free expenses related to employee health benefits will remain in place, but its usage will become more flexible: it can now be used throughout the year as needed, without quarterly limits.

  • Dear friends! Important news! New requirements and changes related to e-invoices will soon be introduced into the Accounting Act. The changes will standardise and simplify the requirements for the circulation and preparation of machine-processable source documents, in particular e-invoices. According to the draft law, e-invoices must comply with the European standard, and the Estonian standard will be abolished. The draft will also abolish the obligation to issue only e-invoices to public sector entities in all cases and will provide for the right of accounting entities that have registered as e-invoice recipients in the commercial register to require sellers to issue electronic invoices. • Dear friends! We remind you! Digitalisation and automation allow accountants to focus on more important tasks, but the foundation of success remains the continuous development of employees and strong client relationships. This is not a passing trend but a shift that is shaping the future of accounting firms. Despite the rapid advancement of technology, people — both accountants and clients — remain at the core of the company. Accounting firms that can balance the use of technology with a human approach are the most successful. Clients expect modern digital solutions, but they also value personalised service and professional advice.
