Boys & Girls Club Turkey Drive 2022- United Public Adjusters For most families in our country, Thanksgiving is a time spent together enjoying a holiday meal and being together. Yet this is not true for everyone in the Bronx due to food insecurity. This year, however, the Thanksgiving holiday was a little brighter for several hundred local families due to local businesses and organizations who care about the economically challenged in the Bronx. Every year, United Public Adjusters & Appraisers is a key contributor to making the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club's Thanksgiving Food Drive a success. For 2022, UPA was again honored to participate in the event held on November 18th between 4-7 PM at the charitable organization's Bronx Clubhouses: John E. Grimm III Clubhouse and Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse. Every year, the goal of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club Thanksgiving Food Assistance event is to serve 300 turkeys for each of the two Clubhouses, which will help 600 families. United Public Adjusters & Appraisers assists by providing produce, groceries, and turkeys to be donated to needy families around the Bronx communities the firm has pledged to serve. An additional monetary contribution by UPA provides significant support to assist in organizing the Holiday event food giveaway. For this year, as in the past, The Bronx Board of Managers at the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club worked alongside the United Public Adjusters & Appraisers' team to secure donations and Thanksgiving Turkeys for Clubhouse Members and their families. Again, for 2022, United Public Adjusters & Appraisers teamed up with Sysco Food Service distributors who provided great pricing and even handled the logistics to ensure both Bronx Clubhouses received the turkeys at the appointed time. The Madison staff, as well as the volunteers, helped to distribute an estimated 500-600 15-lb. frozen turkeys. Along with the distribution of the turkeys, the Madison Team and UPA also provided families with all the fixings to create a great holiday meal including, rice, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots to the appreciative Madison families. The United Public Adjusters & Appraisers team will be proud to continue helping those in need for years to come. However, food insecurity also continues for many in the borough of the Bronx. We ask that as Christmas approaches, please reach out to see how you can help to make the Winter holidays a little brighter for the less fortunate. Go to madisonsquare.org to learn more. Together we can raise spirits and make more happy holiday memories for Bronx families. United Public Adjusters & Appraisers, Inc. thanks all the sponsors and volunteers who again donated their time and money to continue the worthy Thanksgiving Turkey mission and assist to achieve its success! Why Are Construction Costs Rising In Long Island NY? UPA Has The Answer! In 2022, we're experiencing inflationary times, which means increased cost of construction. In Long Island, specifically, on the North Shore or on the South Shore, including the North Fork and South Fork, many contractors are seeing labor shortages. Due to those labor shortages, it's causing construction pricing to increase. Those increased pricing is being pushed back onto the policyholders. After a policyholder experiences a property loss, whether it's through frozen pipes, fire, water damage, those increased pricing is now being passed onto them. At United Public Adjusters, we manage property damage claims solely for policyholders, to ensure they get back on their feet very quickly. With these increased construction costs, we are seeing that many policyholders are grossly underinsured, and they're only discovering this after they have a significant property loss. Either they've done a recent renovation and didn't tell their insurance agent, or two, their insurance agent or their insurance company didn't tell them that the price per square foot increased over the last two years, which has now netted a lower number for them, going forward. Now, who benefits by being grossly underinsured? Well, I could say that obviously, the insurance company is not going to pay you what you need to replace your damages. Two, you're at a complete disadvantage because now at this point, you have a decision whether you rebuild, possibly change your scope to be a lesser scope to match what you do have for insurance, or decide to not rebuild due to lack of funds, and to replace your property elsewhere, depending on policy condition. When the insurance company makes a low ball offer, we then present to them the full picture. The logistics, rising construction costs, labor shortages, every little aspect that makes sense to you and I. We then have to explain this to the insurance company and hopefully that adjuster who we're negotiating with gets it, and is able to then get that approved by his manager. And sometimes it doesn't work out well. So with our assistance, we understand the market, we understand what it takes to get you back on your feet. With our experience, we'll help you do much quickly with our team on your side, to make sure things go smooth going forward, so you can have a quick recovery. Should Your Insurance Company Reimburse You For Your Interior Designer Costs? Our firm, United Public Adjusters and Appraisers handles claims from small business owners to high net wealth clients with waterfront homes or on multiple acres of property, ultimately to hospitality, hotels, you name it. What's come up recently is a big talking point is the, should the insurance company reimburse you for your interior designer costs? Many of our clients are used to hiring interior designers, and interior designers are not construction managers, they're not your contractor. Interior designer's job is to help you through decision-making of selections of colors, kitchen cabinetry, paints, personal property. Most policyholders and homeowners don't have the time to go through all those specific selections on their own. And then, so when we are given interior designer estimates from our clients, we present these to these insurance companies that ensure these high net wealth individuals. We're getting a lot of kickback. Over the years, things have changed in this industry. Years ago, we would present it and the insurance company would understand that that's typically what our client would do, hire an interior designer. Now what we're presenting them, they're saying, "Hold up, prove to us that your client has ever used an interior designer before and maybe we'll consider reimbursing you for an interior designer." It's that things have totally changed this industry. Our client is not going to quit their job and start doing the role of an interior designer. And if they were to take on that role, that would totally affect their personal lives and their business, and now would take on this role of shopping for selections of materials, et cetera, which would only delay their construction. By the use of an experienced interior designer, it helps expedite the claim process because it'll help them get the selections ordered, delivered to the job site so they can make those repairs needed to get them back home sooner than later. So our team is accustomed to handling high net wealth individuals who normally work with interior designers, and we understand what it takes to get our clients back on their feet and we will make sure that we provide that first class service to make sure the art is made in a proper light to your insurance company so they understand it so your main hold for your damages, but I can tell you from experience interior designer costs, that we had a recent claim between $150,000 and up to $700,000 in costs. This is real money and it's a service that our clients need in order to help them get back on their feet, for both their building damages and personal property, and our firm who's here to assist with those property losses, whether it's by fire, water, or flood.
