How AI Hurts Critical Thinking and What Developers Can Do About It? 📚 A study by Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University suggests that using artificial intelligence might reduce critical thinking among knowledge workers — especially when AI is used to handle routine or low-complexity tasks. Researchers found that employees felt more confident when working with AI, but this didn’t necessarily mean their critical thinking was engaged. Instead, AI usage is shifting from task execution to results supervision. The more we rely on AI, the less effort we put into ourselves, which, in the long run, could negatively impact our analytical and problem-solving skills. 🧐 In software development, AI is a useful tool but not a replacement. According to Uptime’s CTO, Raimo Seero, it’s not just about knowing how to use AI but also about critically evaluating AI-generated content. High-quality software is built through collaboration, which is why code reviews, pair programming, and continuous feedback are essential in the field. 💬 “AI is undoubtedly valuable, but what matters even more is that developers work together, review each other’s code, and approach content critically. At Uptime, we provide training on writing quality code and fostering teamwork. In the age of AI, code reviews and collective learning are more important than ever,” said Raimo. Check out the full study and explore how AI impacts critical thinking – let’s stay sharp and use AI wisely! 🚀

Uptime’s management meet-up – this time in Madrid! 🇪🇸 The sessions this time around focused on sharing management and industry knowledge across countries. The main focus was on the energy sector (proudly led by our Spanish office) along with digitalization and self-service solutions across. This time, Unatec, the most recent addition to Uptime’s group, had the pleasure of hosting Uptime’s regular management meeting with the heads of our Estonian, Polish, Norwegian, Danish, and now Spanish teams in attendance. This was a great opportunity for everyone to meet our new Spanish colleagues, as well as get to know their business practices, target industries, and learn from their experiences. As always, these meetings strengthen Uptime as one pan-European group. Sharing best practices and exchanging recent lessons to enable cross-market learning and team collaboration. These management meetings consistently spark outstanding ideas, and we’re already looking forward to the next one! 👏
