Last week, Iman Bibars, the founder of WISE ‘The Women's Initiative For Social Entrepreneurship,’ Vice President of Ashoka Global, and Regional Director of Ashoka Arab World, participated in a thought-provoking panel discussion powered by GIZ Egypt under the theme "Partnerships for a Just Transition.". The session, titled "Bridging the Divide: Advancing Partnerships for a Just Transition for People and Planet," was moderated by the renowned Dr. Laila Iskander Kamel, former State Minister of Environment and Urban Development. The event featured an esteemed lineup of speakers, including: - H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation - H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment - H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation - Dr. Mohamed Bayoumi, UNDP Egypt Assistant Resident Representative and Climate Team Lead - Dr. Ghada Barsoum, Professor of Public Policy at AUC - Mr. Helmy Aboul Eish, CEO of SEKEM Group During the panel, Dr. Iman Bibars emphasized the critical role of social innovation and partnerships in addressing global challenges, stating: "To achieve a just transition for people and the planet, we must empower communities, amplify local voices, and reimagine how businesses and governments collaborate for systemic change." She also highlighted the importance of gender equity in the journey towards sustainability: "Women are not just beneficiaries; they are architects of innovative solutions. A just transition is incomplete without their active leadership and participation." Dr.Iman’s insights, drawn from her vast experience with Ashoka and WISE, remind us that collective action and inclusive leadership are key to driving meaningful, sustainable change.
