Molting: A Threat to Shrimp Survival ‼️ 🦐Shrimp are one of the most farmed aquatic organisms globally. 🦐Belonging to the crustacean family, shrimp lack an internal skeleton and instead have a hard exoskeleton made of chitin. To grow, shrimp undergo a crucial biological process called molting. 🦐While essential for growth, molting also poses significant risks to shrimp survival. ⚠️⚠️ So, what is shrimp molting? ⁉️ It's a natural biological process where shrimp shed their hard exoskeleton to allow for the growth of a new, larger, and softer one. Why is molting important for shrimp⁉️ 🔹️Growth: Molting is the primary phase of shrimp growth, enabling them to increase in size and develop their organs. 🔹️Regeneration: During molting, damaged parts of the exoskeleton are replaced, contributing to the shrimp's overall health. What is Pseudomonas disease⁉️ ⚠️It is a disease that infects fish through the mouth or through wounds in the skin or gills.
