Negative feedback in podcasting isn't a bad thing. Your response is what can make it good. First off, determine the motive of the negative feedback: A. If it's a "competitor" or just a troll. Ignore it and know that you're doing something right! B. If it's constructive criticism, see it for what it is, it's not negative feedback, it's someone helping you get better. Self reflect, and take action (even if the action is nothing) Ultimately, what you do with your podcast is up to you. It's your show! Someone who doesn't like it can go somewhere else or start their own. Staying true to who you are is the best thing you can do! ... The right people will like it and become loyal listeners.

💡 Focus on Growth: Treat feedback as an opportunity to improve and refine your skills. 🧘♂️ Separate Emotions: Remember, criticism is about the content, not you personally. 🎯 Revisit Your Why: Reflect on your passion and the reasons you started podcasting. 🤝 Connect with Supporters: Lean on loyal listeners and peers who value your work. 🔄 Iterate, Don’t Quit: Use constructive feedback to make changes while staying true to your vision. 🌟 Celebrate Wins: Recognize the progress you’ve made and the milestones you’ve hit. 💬 Stay Open-Minded: Engage in conversations with critics to gain insights without taking it to heart.
-
1. Reframe Criticism: View feedback as a tool for growth, not a personal attack. Look for constructive points to improve. 2. Focus on Wins: Celebrate positive listener reviews, milestones, and episodes you're proud of to remind yourself of your impact. 3. Set Boundaries: Step back when feedback feels overwhelming—your mental health matters. 4. Stay Curious: Dive deeper into your podcast's purpose and topics you love, reigniting your passion for the craft.

As none has the obligation to listen to your podcast, most of the people don't like your podcast will simply leave without saying anything. So, if someone has made the effort of telling you something about what your podcast is making them feel, that's great. Of course, there can be a number of people who simply send hate without anything else. But there are other people who tell you about their concerns because they want to listen to your podcast but there are some things they don't like or things they miss. Listen to them, ask them for more information if you want, take notes and try applying some of the things they suggest. That doesn't necessarely mean changing everything but trying to improve by your audience's hand.

This might not be the answer you are looking for. I ended my podcast over 200 episodes) because “experts” told me things of why my podcast won’t be successful. I had the wrong mic, the wrong editing software, the wrong platform to upload my episodes. I felt like a huge failure. Why did I listen? When I am ready to find my voice again, I will maybe consider what was recommended. Maybe. -Tommy Former host/producer of “Blending The Family Podcast”
