The CESI - Independent Trade Unions Congress was held in Brussels this week. 👏🏻 Congratulations to @RomainWolf and Klaus Heeger on their re-election as #President and #General Secretary respectively. The Congress was attended by delegations from the main European #TradeUnions, #Federations and #Confederations, bringing together the representation of thousands of workers, giving rise to a fruitful exchange of experience and strengthening of trade union action, with the participation of: ✅ Roxana Minzatu, #Vice-President for social rights, competences quality work and training of the European Commission. ✅ Victor NEGRESCU , #Vice-President of the European Parliament. ✅ The Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Labour and Social Affairs, Li Andersson. ✅ Oliver Röpke, #President of the #EESC- European Economic and Social Committee. ✅ @Nicolas schmit , EU #Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights from 2019 to 2024. The #4thMultimodalConference took place in Brussels this week, highlighting the challenges of rail freight transport for the next years. We had the opportunity to exchange the main concerns from the representation of the Train Drivers in #Europe with different stakeholders. At the same time, this event was the farewell of Josef Doppelbauer, Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Railways, who will leave the position after many years of work for the EU railways. Yesterday SEMAF and SMAQ - Sindicato dos Maquinistas, members of the ALE - Federation of European Train Drivers Unions signed an agreement to support the Train Drivers who cross borders, from both sides. ALE - Federation of European Train Drivers Unions highlights the value of our profession at the European level. We participated in the “Human Factor & Organisational Factors Conference 2024”, organised by European Union Agency for Railways, where safety-related professions, such as #train drivers, which are highly relevant in the railway sector, were one of the main focuses of the event. We celebrated today the #WomenInRailAwards, with a ceremony that took the attention of the whole audience in InnoTrans for the importance of the contribution to the rail sector. Engaging intervention from Josef Doppelbauer during the first meeting of the #TRAN Committee, as well as the members' contribution through the questions addressed. Interoperability, cross-border operations, fragmentation, rail capacity, language issues, 2030 agenda, budget and Digital Automatic Coupler have been the main concerns put on the table. We see a clear focus on the human factor for this mandate, even more taking into account the revision of the Train Drivers Directive #TDD.
