The development, optimization, and validation of organ-on-a-chip systems keep progressing. 🔬 Estephan Arredondo, Technical Director, and Marta Duran, Scientific Project Manager, attended the 2nd UNLOOC Chips JU Project Meeting to discuss the advancements and follow up on the actions carried out during the first 6 months of project implementation. This international project, which accounts for 51 partners, seeks to #UNLOOC organ-on-a-chip's true potential and put them into a format that makes them accessible for broader use in industry and academia. We are proud partners of the UNLOOC Chips JU Project! This international project intends to develop, optimize, and validate organ-on-a-chip systems to replace the need for animal and in-human testing in drug discovery and clinical testing. We will develop five new OOC applications. 🎯 In the first user case we aim to create 3D liver models that reflect human diversity to assess how drugs act on different populations. BeCytes Biotechnologies will isolate and provide primary human hepatocytes from 20 different donors to help generate 3D spheroids representing population diversity and analyze differences in drug action between populations. We are heading to the second project meeting next week to discuss its progress.
