METLEN Energy & Metals are delighted that Ofgem have now officially awarded a £2 billion funding package for EGL1 to build a proposed new subsea and underground 196km cable between Scotland and the north of England which will help boost energy security, cut bills and hit Government green targets in the UK. Earlier this year METLEN Energy & Metals, as part of a consortium with GE Vernova, were awarded a £1bn contract to help construct EGL1 which is a National Grid Energy Transmission and SP Transmission joint venture. This Joint Venture will provide and build two High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter stations for EGL1 and the innovative HVDC system, based on Voltage-Sourced technology, will enable the transmission of renewable green energy to power over two million homes across the UK thereby supporting the UK’s efforts for decarbonisation and security of supply. #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #UK

📣 Our logistics strategic partner Grupo Moldtrans strengthens its land transport services and groupage in Europe, with collaboration agreements in the Netherlands and in Austria, Van Duuren and SCHNEIDER + PEKLAR Speditions-Partner GmbH respectively. Milestones: ✔ MoldTrans strengthens its international land transport by signing new strategic agreements with Van Duuren in the Netherlands and SCHNEIDER + PEKLAR Speditions-Partner GmbH in Austria. ✔ These agreements reinforce the Moldtrans Group's services in key markets, in the groupage and full load modalities, by allowing a greater frequency of departures from Spain and Portugal to European destinations. ✔ The agreement with Van Duuren responds to the stable increase in the trade flow between Spain and the Netherlands, whose exports have registered a growth rate of 1.34% in the last 12 months and 2.54% in its imports. Meanwhile, exports between Spain and Austria increased by 4.44% in the last year, while Spanish imports from Austria grew by 13%. 💡 On Friday October 18th we had the pleasure to attend and  support actiively the promotional event of  the Greek Region of Central Macedonia in Madrid. 🔝 Central Macedonia has an incredible attractiveness, and has positioned itself as a reference destination within the Spanish tourism sector.   We invite you to discover the cultural, historical and natural wealth that characterizes this region, as well as its dream beaches, mountain landscapes gastronomic routes and wine tourism experiences. The event  took place at Gran Palacio de Los Duques of Meliá Hotels International, was sponsored by the Embassy of Greece in Spain, led by the Ambassador, Ilias Fotopoulos, who opened the event by highlighting that “it is one of the best-known regions in the world for being the land of the great conqueror Alexander the Great.” The presentation was also supported by the Greek Tourist Board in Spain - represented by Kalliopi Kourousia, Director of the Greek Tourist Board in Spain - and by the Cámara de Comercio Hispano Griega Spanish-Greek Chamber of Commerce, as well as by the intervention of Ms. Alexandra Gaitanaki, Representative of the Tourism Directorate of the Region of Central Macedonia , and Mr. Yorgos Broutzas, General Director of the Halkidiki Tourism Authority, who were in charge of presenting the various experiences offered by these unique destinations. 🔝Two days of gourmet experiences promoting fresh fish of Greek aquaculture. ✔️We are very grateful and happy to have joined and supported the two culinary events organised in Madrid hosted by the renowned restaurant VelascoAbellà Restaurante to promote Fresh Fish from Greek aquaculture. ✔️Two days of culinary experiences, including food and wine pairing and cooking demos by the magnificent chef Óscar Velasco, awarded with two Michelin stars, organised with the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO) and with the Embassy of Greece in Spain and the Spanish-Greek Chamber of Commerce Cámara de Comercio Hispano Griega ✔️Representing the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization was Ismini Bogdanou Marketing & Communications Director, who also gave a detailed presentation on the competitiveness and extraordinary quality of Greek fish farming and the healthy characteristics of Greek fish. Also, the Greek Ambassador, Mr. Ilias Fotopoulos, gave a welcoming speech and the Economic and Trade Office was actively involved with the head of mission Mr. Pantelis Gassios and Mrs. Christina Economou. ✔️The first day of the experience aimed to introduce the initiative to chefs while the second day was for the specialised gourmet food press, bloggers and influencers. Figures ✔️In 2023, Spain imported 33,520 tonnes of Greek aquaculture fish, especially sea bream and sea bass, accounting for 28% of Greek production. Spain is the second largest buyer of Greek fresh aquaculture fish, mainly sea bream and sea bass. We were delighted to attend on October 3rd the REDIT-Red de Institutos Tecnológicos de la Comunitat Valenciana Summit 2024 at Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante. The Spanish-Greek Chamber of Commerce in the framework of the collaboration agreement signed last July with Casa Mediterráneo – the public consortium led by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union and Cooperation- has been invited to the Redit Summit 2024 held in Alicante. As members of Casa Mediterráneo's Board of Trustees, meetings have been held with the management of Redit and of some technological institutes such as the Instituto Tecnológico de Energía and the Instituto Tecnológico de Información including leading companies in the technology sector. The aim was to explore the possibilities to collaborate in technological and development programmes between Redit and technological institutes, companies and universities from Greece. About the Redit Summit: Under the theme "Innovating for a New Industry”, national and international experts and business leaders discussed the challenges and strategies related to new industrial business models, focusing on key technologies such as digitalization, energy transition, and sustainability. About Redit Redit is the Technology Institutes Network of the Valencian Community (REDIT). Redit is a private non-profit association representing 11 regional technology centres focused on the promotion of the Valencian Technological Institute model, a support system for business research, development and innovation (R+D+I). Redit acts as an interlocutor between the technology centres and public institutions, encourages collaboration between the Institutes and promotes business training and knowledge development.
