Today we share the key points of mobility in the progress of science, technology, innovation and culture of our CEO and Founder, Prof. Dr. Fernando Colmenares, also CEO of the Engineering Research Institute - In³ - of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia (UCC) in Spain, particularly at the Universidad de Cantabria (UC) with Prof. Dr. Alberto Coz: July 1st - 05th. 📅 Visited the Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno, together with members of the Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture Network - BERSTIC, In³ and the UC. 📅 Met with Bhavik Doshi and Constance Agyeman, co-founders of the Partnership Bureau, this was a space to validate the structure of workshops such as Frontiers, organised by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAENg), as feedback will help improve the inclusion of different stakeholders in co-creation activities to address global challenges and programmes launched by the RAENg. 📅He also met with Munkhbayar Elkins and Sameh ElBadry from Sense about Science contacted by the Lloyd's Register Foundation and the RAENg, in this space he presented the projects that he has been leading from In3 and our Network, this to show how we evaluate the risk in these projects and how we teach to mitigate it, supported by the interaction of communities and public policy makers. We also talked about some of the topics that are central to our work, such as system thinking, voice of the different stakeholders (QFD), systems dynamics, and the inclusion of young researchers, in our case the interdisciplinary BERSTIC seedbed, the STIC professional and personal growth community, children and young scientists in schools such as the Institución Etnoeducactiva La Paz, among other experiences. 📅 Cultural tour of the city of Santander, view of old buildings, the funicular railway and the landscapes in the city. He also visited the photonics engineering laboratory of the UC, in order to look for project opportunities to develop low-cost sensors to monitor water quality in indigenous communities such as the Wayuu in La Guajira, Colombia. He also talked about the use of Artificial Intelligence to analyse data generated in the projects carried out in this laboratory. In addition to Dr. Coz, Prof Dr Adolfo Cobo García from the UC, Prof Dr Juan Carlos Colmenares Quintero from the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences and Georgios Iakovou at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) accompanied him on this visit. 📅 We met with Dr. Juan Carlos Colmenares for the organisation of the logistics of the IV International BERSTIC face-to-face Congress to be held in Warsaw and the CELISE seminar on 19-20 September 2024, which is organised by our Network, the In³ and the UCC. 🌎 We express our gratitude to the CELISE_project funded by the European Union.
