📢 🎈 🎉 Warm congratulations to Romain Mauger, our senior researcher in #energy and #environmental #regulation, who has been granted an European Research Council (ERC) #startinggrant of 1.425 M€. This is the first European Research Council (ERC) grant for the region of #Extremadura, and of course, the first for CIIAE - Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage. The project #DELaw, which lasts 5 years, aims to find ways to integrate the principles of degrowth into the law, in order to reorient our society at the required scale and pace, analysising several Member States’ energy laws, with a focus on the legal regime for #energystorage and especially #batteries. #DELaw shows the #interdisciplinary and #groundbreaking nature of CIIAE - Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage's research. 💡 #jobalert Stay tunned since several positions will be open before the end of this year, mainly at the #PhD level, but also a #postdoc. On December 4–5, 2024, a delegation from INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory visited the Iberian Energy Storage Research Center (#CIIAE) in Extremadura to explore pathways for advancing sustainable energy solutions. This collaboration aligns with the European Union's #GreenDeal, striving for a carbon-neutral Europe by 2050. Led by Prof. Dr. Ado Jorio Vasconcelos, the INL delegation participated in lab tours, institutional meetings, and scientific sessions, sharing insights on renewable energy technologies and energy storage. This visit also builds on the memorandum of understanding signed during the XXXIII Spain-Portugal Summit, underscoring the importance of cross-border collaboration in addressing the climate emergency. Our colleagues Blanca Isabel Arias Serrano and Raúl Ernesto Gutiérrez Alvarez participated in the #KOM kick-off meeting of ALCHEMHY Project EU, led by CIRCE - Centro Tecnológico, which aims to #decarbonise the #chemical industry, using #ammonia and #methanol. CIIAE - Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage has an important role by developing direct electro synthesis of #greenammonia #DESA, synthesising #catalysts for #methanol in #plasmareactors, integrating #TLR6 technologies in our #pilotplant, and peforming techno-economic analysis #TEA. We are hiring a postdoc!

Cristina Raga Barciela joins the CIIAE - Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage as a #JuniorResearcher at the #Hydrogen and Power-to-X Department under the supervision of Santiago Lain Beatove, where she will work on the modelling and simulation of different electrochemical devices👏👏   Cristina has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering by the University of Zaragoza. She took part in the HORUS project at LIFTEC (CSIC) modelling combustion processes using stochastic methods in reheating furnaces. She has also participated in other projects, developing mathematical models to describe the most relevant degradation processes in a vanadium redox flow battery and in the CLIMAWIN project focused on CO2 capture and its use in the Bosque de Matasnos winery. She has recently obtained his PhD in Fluid Mechanics in Instituto de Carboquímica (CSIC), where she carried out the modelling and numerical simulation of degradation processes in high temperature polymer fuel cells. #powertoX #juniorresearcher #hydrogen
