89% of health is shaped outside the doctor’s office, in the environments where we live and move. Yet, health is often overlooked in urban planning. The Healthy Cities Generator (HCG) is changing that by integrating health and economic insights into city design. 🔬 Since 2017, the HCG has used real-world data to assess the impact of urban plans on physical, mental, and environmental health. Recently, the tool’s capabilities were expanded through a project funded by EIT Urban Mobility, enabling a better design, development, testing, and marketing of a digital tool easily accessible to cities. ↔️ In Bradford, UK, the tool found that urban greening could save €700 per person annually, with the investment paying for itself in just two years. ↔️ In Cascais, Portugal, the tool projected €400 in annual savings per resident from pedestrian-friendly spaces, achieving a return on investment in 26 months. 💬 Want to explore more innovations at the intersection of mobility, environment, and health?
