𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙙𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙊𝙢𝙣𝙞𝙗𝙪𝙨 𝙎𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙖𝙜𝙚 A confidential document detailing the Omnibus Simplification Package has been leaked, revealing proposed changes currently under internal negotiation within the European Commission. The final version is set for official publication on February 26. If confirmed, these adjustments could ease compliance burdens for businesses while significantly altering corporate sustainability obligations across the European Union. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 (𝗖𝗦𝗥𝗗): ▫️ Only companies with more than 1,000 employees and €450 million in turnover will be subject to the regulation, excluding many businesses previously covered. ▫️ No mandatory sustainability reporting for listed SMEs. ▫️ No new sector-specific requirements in 2026. ▫️ Large companies can only request voluntary sustainability data from SMEs in their supply chain. ▫️ Non-EU companies must comply with CSRD if they generate more than €450 million in revenue in the EU (previously €150 million). 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝘂𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 (𝗖𝗦𝟯𝗗): ▫️ Due diligence will be limited to direct suppliers and will only apply to companies with more than 500 employees in the supply chain. ▫️ Civil liability for companies is removed across the EU. ▫️ No due diligence requirements for financial institutions. ▫️ The due diligence process only needs to be updated every five years. ▫️ No obligation to implement a climate transition plan. ▫️ Reduced obligation to terminate business relationships if human rights violations are identified. ▫️ Stakeholder engagement limited to workers, directly affected communities, and individuals—reducing consultation burdens. ▫️ EU member states will be legally restricted from introducing stricter rules to address corporate human rights impacts. That's the challenge: 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘂𝗽?
