Reflecting on this year’s eucen Autumn Seminar, we can confidently assert that it was a success!
Over the course of two days, we explored the theme “Skills for a Greener Future: The Role of University Lifelong Learning” from various points of views. The event brought together EU policymakers, companies, civil society, international academics, researchers, and practitioners, fostering meaningful dialogue on this crucial topic.
The seminar offered a dynamic programme featuring keynote speeches, interactive dialogues, working groups, poster presentations, parallel sessions, and networking opportunities.
Notable keynote speakers included Stefaan Hermans (Director of Policy Strategy and Evaluation in the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture at the European Commission), and Simon Roy (Lead of the Higher Education Policy Team in the OECD’s Directorate for Education and Skills). The dialogue took place between Gemma Tejedor-Papell (Researcher at the Institute of Sustainability Science and Technology, UPC) and Shannon Kobran (Head of Education and Training at the SDG Academy). Contributions to the panel discussion came from professionals such as and David Gomez i Maurel (Project manager at Tèxtils.CAT), Shannon Kobran, Magí Lluch-Ariet (Data Manager at EIT Health), and Annemieke Van Barneveld-Biesma (Manager of Strategic Partnerships for LLL at Wageningen University & Research).
Additionally, participants could contribute with poster presentations and explore during parallel sessions the topics ‘RPL as a powerful tool for inclusion’ and ‘Education and design for green skills’.
The expertise of the guests significantly enriched the discussions, underscoring the critical role of universities in advancing skills development for a sustainable, greener future.
We want to thank all the speakers, facilitators, and attendees who made the event possible. A special acknowledgment goes to Tamer Atabarut (Bogaziçi University), Katrin Männik (Tallinn University), and Christina Paulus (BOKU) for their work as scientific committee.
We look forward seeing you again next year at the 55th eucen Annual Conference in Lille.
