Magnetoelectric 3D printing technology The revolution of actuatable composites

Sobre nosotros

The EU-funded EVA project is developing a new technology which can programme the mechanical, magnetic and electrical properties of 3D printed structures. The EVA project puts forward a radically new 3D printing technology that will revolutionize the nature of composites, transforming them from passive elements to responsive systems that can be instructed to execute tasks – on command. A technology that can program the mechanical, magnetic and electrical anisotropy of 3D printed structures in any direction, to fabricate systems that can be wirelessly actuated to elicit variable electrical responses during operation. Regulation of cellular functions by exogenous and non-invasive approaches can revolutionize tissue engineering. The technology of EVA will allow many biotechnological applications for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine such as the development of bio-degradable scaffolds to stimulate growth and differentiation of stem cells. The alarmingly high levels of micropollutants such as pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals and chemical agents entering our surface and groundwater ecosystems are a major societal challenge. These substances are biologically active and affect aquatic and human life, even at very low concentrations. EVA project will develop the tools to tackle the wastewater treatment problem, with high efficiency catalytic membrane to free wastewaters from persistent micropolutants.
