A great recognition of the FLORA project work for the past 18 months: the multi-sensor & self-powered ocean station will soon gather data on bird and biodiversity, which is critical to Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and Environmental Impact Assessment of offshore wind farms. Many thanks to CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency for the support and congratulations to the other winners!
We are proud to see four of our EU-funded projects winning the Atlantic Project Award at the Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference in Bordeaux on 22 November. This year, six awards were granted as recognition of the projects’ outstanding performance in five award categories. ⚡ Marine Renewable Energy: FLORA Ocean Station (EMFAF) This project is developing a prototype of an ocean station with renewable energy generation and oceanographic capabilities. 🌊 Healthy Oceans and Resilient Coasts: C-FAARER (Horizon Europe Mission Ocean) and MSP-OR (EMFF) C-FAARER supports ocean farmers to develop community-driven business models for regenerative ocean farming. MSP-OR helps national authorities with the implementation of maritime spatial planning in the Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands and French Guiana. 🤝 International Cooperation: A-AAGORA - Atlantic Arctic Agora (Horizon Europe Mission Ocean) This project aims to support the European Commission to reduce pressures in coastal areas to boost resilience to climate change and mitigate its impacts. Finally, HYDEA won in the Atlantic Ports category, while BLUESKILLING INNOVATION (both funded under Interreg Atlantic Area) was awarded in the Blue Skills and Ocean Literacy.
