The main objective of the FOOD ZONE project is to support the skills development of producers, tourism professionals and educators for the development of food tourism experiences. The project also aims to support the collaboration of producers with a diversity of players in the broader tourism ecosystem and will establish food tourism incubators in partner countries. The project is funded under Erasmus + KA2-VET-Cooperation partnerships in vocational education and training. The project is coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Caceres, Spain. Unlike sustainable tourism, regenerative tourism focuses on enhancing destinations rather than merely reducing harm. Visitors play an active role in revitalizing the places they explore. This approach is crucial for maintaining Europe’s position as the world’s leading tourism destination. 🌿 According to UNWTO (2021), regenerative tourism will be a key driver in tourism recovery. 🌾 Rural communities are essential to the EU economy, ensuring affordable, sustainable, and safe food production (European Commission). 📈 The EU Parliament (2018) highlights that rural tourism consists largely of micro-businesses, requiring urgent upskilling. The FOOD ZONE project aligns with the objectives of the EU Rural Pact (2021), fostering resilient, prosperous, digitally connected rural areas that enhance local well-being. 🔍 Why does this matter? Food Zone Spain Face2Face Piloting Event The Cáceres Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services presents at ESHAEX the piloting of the FOOD ZONE project training course, to bring tourism professionals closer to the experiences of Regenerative Food Tourism. - Last 16th January the Food Zone Face2Face Piloting Event which took place in Escuela Superior de Hostelería y Agroturismo de Extremadura, in Mérida. -A total of 38 people (students and teachers) attended it, and they participated and interacted during the event giving their ideas about the barriers Regenerative Food Tourism faces and the possible strategies that can be carried out. -At the end of the event, an interactive game was held in order the participants to show their recent learnt knowledge about Regenerative Food Tourism. -More information here: food-zone – Supporting FOOD Producers and the tourism ecosystem. #RegenerativeFoodTourism #Tourism #Sustainability #ESHAEX #FoodZone
