A huge thank you to our amazing moderator and Head of Events Lucia Buscaglia for leading the conversation so effectively, and to Ana Andjelic and Virginie Hochard for sharing their invaluable insights on storytelling, leadership, and the balance between personal and professional growth.     🗣️ Event Recap: Storytelling in the Marketing World 🎙️ Yesterday, we teamed up with the IEU Marketing Club to host an empowering panel discussion focused on the art of storytelling in marketing and personal growth. We had the pleasure of having Ana d'Anglade and Virginie Hochard share their extensive experience on how the concept of storytelling has shaped both their personal careers and the brands they have worked with over the years. Ana d'Anglade began her career in finance before transitioning into marketing at Procter & Gamble, where she spent over 20 years. She later shifted to executive search, leading marketing and sales recruitment across EMEA. With her diverse background, Ana brought valuable insights on the importance of emotional storytelling and personal branding. Virginie Hochard is a seasoned marketing and sales executive who has worked across various divisions at LVMH, Chanel Spain, and most recently Guerlain. With extensive experience in luxury marketing, Virginie shared her perspective on the evolving nature of brand storytelling and client relationships. Here are some of their keytake aways: ✨ Ana emphasized the power of emotional connection in storytelling, specifically noting that “Consumers remember emotional stories more than facts.” She encouraged everyone in the audience to develop a personal brand toolkit—a combination of values, skills, and areas for growth—to stand out professionally. Ana also shared a vital reminder, especially relevant in today's fast-paced world, for those navigating both their professional and personal lives: “Stay away from absolutes (e.g. either I am a good mother or a good professional) and trying to be perfect.” ✨ Virginie, on the other hand, emphasized the need for storytelling to evolve alongside societal changes, saying, “As society evolves, so must the stories brands tell.” She highlighted the importance of face-to-face interactions to build trust within an team and with a client. Virginie also offered advice on maintaining personal priorities: “Set your priorities and don’t block yourself from what you want in your personal life just because of your job.” The discussion covered a range of topics, from using AI to spark creativity to finding balance between work and personal life without the pressure of perfection. Both speakers encouraged our audience to stay curious, keep learning, and stay true to their values and priorities.   • On October 23rd, Prof. Dr. Antonio G. led us on a deep dive into why our favorite brands resonate with us emotionally. 💭 He introduced the concept of 'Love Marks' and how brands position themselves along the spectrum of love vs. respect. We discussed how emotional branding fosters genuine connections and how celebrities like Taylor Swift build iconic brands that keep them consistently relevant and relatable. 🎤✨ The spotlight then turned to AI's transformative impact on branding, especially in personalizing content, predicting preferences, and tracking real-time sentiment.     I am excited to share that our recent club fair was a major success! Our presentation drew a great crowd, and we’re thrilled to welcome many new members to the IEU Marketing Club. Following the fair, we held our Meet & Greet event, which provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with new and existing members. The event was both engaging and informative; we discussed our plans for the year, brainstormed ideas, and enjoyed some networking over drinks. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make both the club fair and the Meet & Greet successful.     Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to attend Marketing Day at IE Business School. Although I had to miss a few classes to participate in workshops and panel discussions, it was an enriching experience, especially as an Engineering graduate transitioning into Marketing. One standout session was led by Alejandra Casado and Sergio Delgado Bravo, where Alejandra, wearing rollerblades, delivered a captivating talk on Misbehave Advisory and Unconventional Approaches to Marketing. This unconventional approach highlighted the importance of thinking outside the box, leaving a lasting impression on our minds. The panel discussions were equally insightful. The first panel, featuring Celia González Cruza and Marta Ruiz de Alegría Atienza, delved into the nuances of Branding in Luxury, illustrating its similarities and differences from conventional branding. The second panel, with Gonzalo Vilar Anglada, Blanca Perez-Sauquillo, and Tamara Pirojkova, explored the complexities of branding a nation, considering diverse opinions within a population to craft a unified national brand. The day concluded with a Career Fair and Networking Gala, providing invaluable opportunities to connect with professionals and gain deeper insights into the field of Marketing. Overall, Marketing Day offered a fresh perspective and valuable insights, further fueling my passion for this dynamic field.

  • This week we hosted our 3rd annual IE Marketing Day, focusing on the diverse facets of branding, spanning corporate, retail, and national levels. The event featured an exceptional lineup, comprising two workshops, two panels, a careers fair, and culminated in a networking gala. With over 300 attendees, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the enthusiasm for learning and understanding was palpable. This year's event surpassed all previous records, boasting the highest number of attendees per event to date. We express our gratitude to everyone who supported, assisted, and collaborated with us. Firstly, we extend our appreciation to IE University for hosting the event at their excellent facilities. Special thanks to IE Campus Life for their outstanding collaboration and pre-and post-event support. Our gratitude also goes to IE Talent & Careers for organising the career fair and their unwavering overall support. We also extend our gratitude to the IE Marketing Department for their support in communications and logistics for the event. A grand thank you to IE Alumni for their invaluable support in providing speakers. Heartfelt thanks to our attendees for their active participation, eagerness to learn, and commitment to a deeper understanding of the subject. Your presence is truly valued. Secondly, we acknowledge our incredible speakers who captivated the audience. Special thanks to Guillermo Garcia-Muchacho and Alejandra Casado (and her roller skates) for their impactful workshops. Thank you to our panellists on retail branding, Celia González Cruza, and Marta Ruiz de Alegría Atienza, for their captivating discussion. Gratitude also goes to our panellists on Crafting National Image, Gonzalo Vilar Anglada, Blanca Perez-Sauquillo, and Tamara Pirojkova, for shedding light on how branding can adopt an international relations lens, transcending conventional marketing understanding. A sincere thank you to our hosts, Brian Hallett and Alana Moceri. Finally, we extend our deepest thanks to our incredible team, whose collaboration and hard work spanned event planning, communications, photography, design, and event management – all crucial elements that brought this event to life.
