pharmaphorum speaks with our CEO Carolina Aguilar about our work at INBRAIN Neuroelectronics. 🧠🧠 Inbrain Neuroelectronics is a European company that is also working with BCIs, but is taking a different approach by using graphene-based neural technologies and by focusing its work on existing medicinal approaches. The company recently announced that it had secured Series B funding that totalled $50 million, which Inbrain will use to develop its BCI technology and support on-going clinical trials. The potential for #graphene to revolutionise #nanotechnology, particularly in the medical sphere, has been discussed for years. In the case of Inbrain, the material, which is the thinnest material known to science and stronger than steel, is used in the implantable neural processor. Medical Design & Outsourcing editor Jim Hammerand speaks with our CEO Carolina Aguilar about graphene-based #BCI technology and its unique advantages. 🧠🧠 “In this field, there is a race to put as many contacts as you want or you think you need,” Aguilar said. “.. But I think it’s not about who can put more contacts on the surface of the brain. It’s more about what those contacts can do clinically in a relevant and meaningful way for the patient. We can not forget about that, because this is not a technology race.” Read the article: 👇👇 https://lnkd.in/evr7HGNk

Graphene is a "seriously weird material... it is neither a metal, nor an insulator, nor even a true semiconductor" but twenty years after it was first isolated some companies have persevered and are brining its possibilities to light 💡 In a Science article "COMING OF AGE: Twenty years after the ballyhooed discovery of graphene, the atom-thin carbon sheets are finding their footing" Graphene Flagship partners: Graphene Engineering Innovation Center (GEIC) at Graphene - The University of Manchester, INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, Graphenea, TUDelft iGEM and imec are highlighted as companies that have not only found their footing, but are successfully demonstrating the application of graphene within key industries that will affect everyday life. 📖 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dz_bKx7Q

Dan Gnansia from INBRAIN Neuroelectronics reveals how graphene and AI are transforming brain technology. 🌐 A neural implant made of graphene has been successfully and safely used clinically for the first time during a surgical procedure. The device, developed by INBRAIN Neuroelectronics co-founded by Kostas Kostarelos, Professor of Nanomedicine at The University of Manchester, was used during a brain tumour resection surgery. The technology was able to differentiate between healthy and cancerous brain tissue with micrometer-scale precision. 💰 Backed by $50M in Series B funding, INBRAIN is set to accelerate the development of its graphene-powered BCI therapeutics for neurological conditions.
