Celebrating a career of dedication: Xabier’s journey at Irizar Forge After an impressive career at Irizar Forge, Xabier, our shotblast operator, is set to retire on December 18th. With decades of dedication, Xabier's journey is a testament to the strong sense of family, craftsmanship, and commitment that define Irizar Forge. When asked what has kept him at Irizar for so long, Xabier reflects on the company’s unwavering values: "It’s the people and the work. The sense of teamwork and the pride in the quality we deliver—there’s always something new to learn, and that keeps me motivated." Xabier’s passion for his craft, his connection to his colleagues, and the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology have made Irizar Forge more than just a job for him—it’s been a place where he’s grown and thrived. Now, as Xabier steps into retirement, he’s far from slowing down. With a passion for his hobbies, he’s looking forward to spending more time on activities like fishing, hiking, and woodworking. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐤? Crane hooks at Irizar Forge go through detailed testing to ensure the best safety and quality. New hooks undergo very strict controls, including destructive tests for material strength and non-destructive tests to check for any imperfections without harming the hook: 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 • Tensile test / Impact test (Charpy V) / Hardness test • Any test carried out on the material that permanently changes its physical, mechanical, or dimensional properties. • To perform, a sample is taken out for analysis as a “biopsy”. 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 • Ultrasonic Test / Magnetic Particle Inspection / Functional Acceptance Test / Proof Load Test • Any test carried out on the material that does not permanently change its physical, mechanical, or dimensional properties. • To perform, the entire hook in its entirety-integrity is tested.
