This engaging forum provided a platform to deal with key challenges in feline health, from zoonotic diseases like feline leishmaniasis to prevalent infectious conditions in cats. With a hands-on, collaborative approach, experts worked together to explore practical solutions that can be applied in clinics today. Could you tell if its a cold or an allergy?   It can be hard to know if what’s stalking you is an allergy or just a common cold. 🤧 Don’t let symptoms scare you!   Here are some key differences to keep in mind:   🌬️ Allergies: If you are dealing with sneezing, itching in your eyes, nose, or throat, but no fever, it’s likely allergies. These symptoms tend to last longer and often show up during specific times of the year.   🤒 Cold: If you have nasal congestion along with a fever, sore throat, and general body aches, you might be dealing with a cold. 🌍 Did you know that house dust #mites are one of the leading causes of indoor allergies?   These tiny creatures thrive in mattresses, sofas, and carpets, feeding on human skin flakes and other organic debris. 🛏️🛋️   They are responsible for allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis and asthma, with up to 50% of asthma sufferers sensitized to mites. They also play a role in atopic eczema and other allergies   Mites need up to 70% humidity and a temperature of around 21ºC to thrive, which is why symptoms can get worse depending on the season.   The first treatment for controlling house dust mite allergy is to avoid exposure to this source of allergens as much as possible, which is often difficult. 🌟 Did you know that some of the greatest discoveries in science happened by chance?   One fascinating example is the origin of immunotherapy. Back in the 1st century BC, Mithridates the Great, an Eastern monarch was so afraid of being poisoned by his enemies that he decided to experiment on himself. He began taking small doses of poison 💊 over time until his body built up a resistance.
